Skoda UK Warranty

Featured Replies

I am sure when I took delivery of my '08 Octavia TDi that I was told there was a 3 year warranty but while reading the service book today it says 2 years can someone tell me which is correct as it is now over 2 years old and I want protection even if it is from a 3rd party warranty.

Thanks

Dave

3 years!

It's a 2 year unlimited mileage manufacturers warranty. The third year is provided by Skoda UK and is valid upto 60000 miles

Only time its 2 year is if the car was an import. If you bought from a dealer it wont be but if from a discount site it may be

Skoda themselves only ever provides a two-year warranty (Europe-wide). The third year is not a 'warranty' in the legal sense, its actually an insurance scheme which Skoda UK subscribe to (although to the customer is appears as a warranty). Many UK car distributors operate this scheme and often the T&C's are different in the third year for that reason.

I think these 2 year warranties with a third year add on are now looking a bit ****-poor compared with some other manufacturers and especially considering what Vauxhall have done recently.

The benefit with Skoda has been an excellent product and a really competetive price. I don't know how long this will last. Reading many of the posts, I get the impression that quality may be slipping as Skoda can't seem to keep up with orders. All will be revealed in the next

JD Power statistics in the Auto Express. Students of the JD Power surveys will know that only Skoda have performed really well out of VAG. VW and Audi come in a lot lower.

I suspect Skoda will lose position............................

With The Koreans doing 7 year warranties and Toyota 5 years, something has to change soon.

The extended warranties like vauxhalls one though are full of loop holes and conditions. Kias is seven years but has wear and tear conditions after 3 is up which changes everything and Vauxhalls lifetime warranty is capped at 100k.

I believe imports and domestic cars now have to carry 3 year manufacturer warranty regardless.

New cars have to carry two years manufacturer's warranty (EU legislation). This warranty is subject to the EU Block Exemption; the warranty must stand if you use OEM parts and intervals.

The third year warranty is an insurance contract and is NOT subject to the EU Block Exemption and therefore they can set whatever rules they want.

Some manufacturers (e.g. Subaru) offer a true 3-year pan-European warranty. Others, like Honda, Kia, Hyundai offer more...
