Re _ Mapping

Featured Replies

Went to the Aotosport show Friday, chatted to a Superchip techno man who reckons 200BHP is the limit for the 1.8T in my VRS, without injector & a new turbo, revo rep reckoned 210bHP, now my last re map with Jabba produced 225, & im boked in again for my new VRS, in Feb, still sticking to Jabba because I think they are so thorough & a nice set of people. But whats going on here between them ?, anyone care to comment.

We have been down this route so many times... do some searching and you will find all you could ever want to know about the 1.8t and its limits for tuning.

As to the different tuning firms you have a favorite.

Enjoy you car once it is tuned.

My advise - stick with a tuner that YOU are happy with, especially if they've already tuned your car in the past.

As dsemuk is saying, check out the 1.8t threads - one has a really good overview of all engine variants involved with their perceived limits.

(to me, those limits are probably not set in stone but based on staying safe for day-to-day use).

:D

Usual story.

X Company has a good reputation & relationship with a Forum.

Y & Z Companies (and some of their customers) want a slice and resort to slinging mud by whatever means they can think of.

X company maintains a dignified silence, thereby making the others look like muppets ;)

The only 2 worth bothering with (IMHO) are Jabba or APR. As far as i'm concerned the other options aren't worth a w*** :D

I wouldnt agree with that... but hey ho... its YOUR car :)

Ok, We KNOW that our motor is in the SEat Leon, were it produced 210 ish BHP. Seat now use the Audi TT motor which has a bigger Turbo and extra Intercooler ( i think) for the Leon 225.

Ok, so this motor WILL make 210 BHP, now most people AMd etc are offering 210 BHP. I belive that is about right, ok if you go for an map that requires 98 RON fuel than a bit more can be had.

Me, going AMD

Me, going AMD

er, the older 210 engines from the leon/TT/S3 are different, they use different injectors/turbo/pistons/con rods and are capable of safe 265bhp ish

jabba's ibiza was running over 300 bhp on stock internals iirc.AGU engine code, and now that they have finally got the kit in place for the ibizathey are turning out quite a few 300 +bhp ibiza's all on stock internals-reliably ,the weak point is the transmission

.......the weak point is the transmission

and the turbo/manifolds

well thats down to jabba ;)

i dont mean the new turbo/manifolds being a hold up i mean standard ones, d'oh

yeh i know i was being sarcy :rofl:

Correct, SEAT use the AUQ engine in the Cupra (and now the FR) which is the same as the Octy vRS.

The AMK (iirc) which is 210 bhp was used in the Audi S3 and the first LCR's

The BAM engine which is 225 bhp is used in the AudiTT and S3 and the latter LCR's

Difference between the 210 bhp and 225 is minor, but quite a difference to the 180 bhp engine.

As i remember its a bigger Turbo and an extra intercooler?

BTW the S3 210 Map was used in the "Autocar" test (I hear from a source). So if you want figs for a 210 BHP map Just Look them up;-

I think 0-60 in 6.7

0-100 in 16.3

30-70 in 6.3

144 top out..........Not Bad :))

Mike

They all clain different things & rollers are different & even a different operator can achieve different figures on the same rollers. A company I know of have a reputation for being a tadge relaxed when initially rolling the car to give a lowish figure & then giving it rock all after theyve modded the car making the work they have done look good. PLEASE NOTE its nobody who has ever been mentioned on this forum & they dont normally work on any Volkswagen/Audi based cars.

A what can you get from a 1.8T, my 4x4 with Bailey DV, Allard BIG Front Mount, Blue flame bespoke exhaust with sports cat, new plugs & Air Filter + a bit of Jabbas magic gave 254.7 Cv (About 250 bhp) & 373.9 Nm Torque. The only problem I have is that its too easy to hit the red in top !!

is that with a k03 s turbo?i was led to believe that they were only good for 220 or so,when you consider a k04 goes to about 265 bhp or so

215bhp max with remap only......apparently.......

...Stuart has a fews more things on top of that.

If you were to bolt on a K04 to an RS you'd need quite a lot of other bits and work to get to 265bhp......it's not a simple plug 'n go.

Yes KO3 Turbo, Aparently working "fairly hard" accoprding to Jabba.

I get the feeling from various conversations Ive had with people that the KO4 might give a bit more power but is not as strong, I will tick with the KO3 at the moment for that reason

am i right in thinking the 1.8T octy has the K03 and the vRS the K03s ?

in which case does the vRS make more power than the 1.8t octy when mapped or is there another reason for it running a different turbo?

also, i'm asked at work what the difference is as one lad has the 210bhp s3 another has the 225bhp LCR and i have the 180bhp vRS... so what are the main differences in the 3 engines?

I would have thought all 1.8t Octavias would have had the K03s turbo...

Difference between the 210 and 225 units is the 225 has weaker con rods and a different map in the ecu.

Difference between the 210 / 225 and the 150 / 180 as follows:

210 / 225 has:

Lower compression

K04 turbo

2nd intercooler

Larger injectors

Bigger clutch as well I think...

Probably a few other changes as well, but I can't remember them at the mo...

dont the older octavias have the K03 and the newer ones have the K03(s)
