Idling and running issues on vRS 2002

Featured Replies

Im having some idle issues and running issues on my octavia vrs,

when i start the car it runs high revs ( auto choke) for approx. 10seconds then jumps from 1000rpm to 400rpm and then eventually dies, after holding the accelerator for approx. 30sec at 1500rpm it evens out and good to go, but then when car is nearly fully warmed up 10miles driving, i go to put my foot down and the revs will stop at 3800 - 4000rpm stutter for a bit backfire/bang/pop from the exhaust the fly off like a bitch,

i dont understand why it is doing this,

im running a k03s hybrid,

straight threw stainless steel system,

de-cat,

fully enclosed ram air k&n system,

forge splitr dump valve,

and a few other little things

any ideas or views welcome,

thanks,

MAF sensor could be gunked up. Worth cleaning the throttle body too. Check to see if you have the old type black Coolant Temp sensor as it's notorious for failing & can cause erratic idle.

also check for split breather pipes

Excellent, thankyou, ill have a check of these tonight,

where abouts is the coolant temp sensor located?

cheers

Follow the top hose of the rad, & the CTS under the lower engine cover, which you'll need to remove.

You really need to get a Vagcom diagnostic done before you start throwing parts at the problem, but if you have a black CTS I advise you change that for the later green CT regardless.

excellent cheers,

was the prob with mine got my new one from car spares 4 pounds 9 pence all in

Genuine VAG part  I bought a cheap aftermarket CTS for my old A3 Quattro, & it lasted a whole 3 days before the temp gauge started going crazy, & the ECU started over fueling thinking the engine was cold
