VRS DRL's

Erm... how do i switch them off?

If you have maxidot you can turn them off in there. If not I think there is a way to turn them off using the stalks. Someone said what you had to do in a thread recently so have a search and you should find it.

i tried but cant seem to fathom the search! i cant be the only one who cant get their head round it?

If you have access to VCDS you can also change the brightness, if you feel they I too bright in normal "all other lights off mode".

I was able to set mine to the "half" brightness as when they are used as sidelights.

I haven't had any abuse off other road users since.

It's in the manual.

i dont have maxidot so ill have to find a local VCDS. Is it a legal requirement to have them switched on? or is that coming in next year?

Maxidot / VCDS not needed:

Deactivating the function daylight driving lights

- Pull the turn signal light lever towards the steering wheel up to 3 seconds after switching on the ignition and at the same time, slide it to the bottom and hold it in

this position for at least 3 seconds.

Activating the function daylight driving lights

- Pull the turn signal light lever towards the steering wheel up to 3 seconds after switching on the ignition and at the same time, slide it to the top and hold it in this

position for at least 3 seconds.

On vehicles fitted with an information display*, you can also activate or deactivate in the menu the function daylight driving lights:

- SETUP

- Lights & Vision

you may want to be careful incase of any silly insurance implications as arent they classed as safety equipment if fitted to a vehicle as standard and you're changing the cars safety equipment by doing this?, i was told something along those lines when i asked my dealer about switching them off on my Volvo.

Complete and utter tosh,! dealers spout all sorts of rubbish about things they know little about, the DRL's are not yet law and even though they are fitted there is a simple way to switch them off, if it were likely to be an insurance issue they would not provide the facility to effectively 'switch off' your insurance!
