Who here has the youngest Mk1 Octavia?

Featured Replies

My Mk1 VRS Estate was registered in Feb 2006 and, judging by the date stamps on various bits of plastic, was built right at the end of 2005 or start of 2006.

Emailing tonight I had the idea of checking to see how many cars were built and registered after UK dealers stopped marketing it when the Mk2 came out in 2004.

Does anyone else have a Mk1built or registered after 2004?

BTW Skoda continued to make the Octavia Mk1 Estate for other countries well after 2004 - AFAIK Skoda were still building it at the start of 2010 - and they did the occasional special order RHD run well after 2004, mainly for Police forces. Glass values my car so clearly there is enough demand and info for them to derive values.

Guys, thanks.

There's an Aug 05 hatch on eBay that looks in great condition - hardly a mark on it.

So far, then, there are taxis around that are newer than my car, which makes me quite happy that mine isn't the youngest around. That said, no-one here's claimed to have a younger car, particularly a VRS...................come on, someone must have a younger one!

The launch of the Mk II was staggered though. The hatch came out first, followed by the estate versions, and finally the vRS models. Even ignoring the continuation of "classic" taxi models mentioned above, I think there was maybe a year or more of overlap during which time the Mk I was still being marketed - albeit with some decent discounts to be had.

Indeed, I went from an 05 plate Mk I vRS estate (http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/52343-andy2407s-octavia-vrs-estate/) to an older 54 plate Mk II Elegance hatch (http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/66412-andy2407s-20-tdi-octy-ii-elegance/) which felt somewhat unusual!

First registered in April 05', bought by me in September 06' just gets better and betteremoticon-0148-yes.gif

My vRS (or RS as V5 shows) is a July 'ish 05, got a lot of extras too. Heated seats good for this weather B)

Problem is, on a lot of insurance websites it comes up as an Elegance! - so got to resort to the old fashion method of ringing them up to get cover!

My 05 plater was the same. Came up as an elegance.

I have a 2005 vRS saloon.

Anywhos mine was buit in 04 unfortunatly :( but not registered till may 2005.

It is down on the log book (incorrectly) as a vRS Tour.

Tour is the name of the mk1 Octypus' they sold in Ireland after the mkII was introduced.

I almost bought a new 07 plate Octavia MK1 Vrs from my local stealer a couple of years ago

Did you travel to Benfield in harrogate?? (local Stealer)

I seem to remember the car ended up in Scarborough.

Go to scarbough all the time, don't go to Harrogate much though, might of seen it in Scarbough or there abouts

Use my own stealers, who gives me a discount for parts apparently :wonder:

Bummer just realised i was ment to pick up my new cupra spoiler today  try tomorrow if i get time lol

If I'm not wrong, last year Skoda Dealer here in Panama, was still selling MK1s, pretty basic options, crappy interior, rear manual windows, steel wheels... so on

You've got a good memory! I bought the silver one from Benfield, but they sold it again to a bloke from Scotland on the same day via the dealer network computer. After much scrabbling around and apologising, they found me a black one. It's on an 06 plate and has covered about 44k now. In March I'll have had it five years and have no intention of getting rid anytime soon. There are a few I see here in Scarborough quite regularly, but they too are black - oh and there's one Yellow one, but none of them seem to be on here. I've no idea when mine was made either.

To check the build date, take off some bits of plastic such as the ash tray. There'll be a manufacturing mark. With JIT manufacturing, normally the car will have been made a few weeks afterwards.
