Basically no !

But saying that, any thing is possible but at a price, it would cost you possablly more than a "Y" reg is worth.

If you are wanting it that much sell your "y" reg and get one with ABS fitted, but I would just drive a little more carefully

TBH ABS Isn't all that IMO. I'd rather do without it. I know it can react so much faster and apply, slack off, and re-apply the brakes faster than I ever could. But times when ABS really gets on my t!ts. Gravelly surfaces, in snow (apparently it can be better to lock your wheels in snow as this builds up snow in front of your wheel helping slow you down), when you go over a bump a bit fast (the wheels go airborne then lock activating the ABS).

And if it is all that important I'd agree with Radio two, it would be cheaper to sell up and buy again.

It would be so expensive to retro-fit you'd be best trading in and buying one with ABS from the factory.

I agree. I understand its reasons for use, and the situations it works, but theres also others when i`d much rather be without it tbh.

Also, can i ask how much is your insurance? I`m after something cheap for my little bro, insurance being the main factor.

Thanks

matt

I was recently informed there was a newspaper article featuring the cheapest to insure cars, and the 1.2 htp Fabia came up in the list. Insurance price varies so wildly for different people in different areas I'm not sure it helps to know how much someone else's insurance is, best to get quotes off confused.com etc.

for me the 1.4 8v fabia and 1.9 sdi were cheapest out of every hatchback you can think of. only thing cheaper to insure was a citroen c1. i went for the sdi and never looked back. the best 1st car you can get imo

I'm surprised there are people who'd rather not have ABS???

It may have 1 or 2 situations where it gets a bit confused.. But I know that I'd never be able to concentrate on pumping the brakes whilst trying to steer around an obstacle.. I'm all for ABS my self, let it do the breaking while I do the steering, team work :)

Ok cheers guys!! And id rather not trade my car in, I'm 17 and this is my first car :p

I dont think I'd get much as I bought it for £1600

And to answer the question of insurance, being a new drive (only passed for 4 months) I'm paying

A very high £3500 a year :(

Crikey. But at least you're not insurance fronting like many at 17 do.

I presume you shopped around? Did you try adding parents who have a driving license to the policy as named drivers as this can sometimes help bring the cost down?

Nope, I didn't, only my dad has a driving licence and adding him put it up to

£5000 a year.

Yhh I did shop around, a lot of people wernt willing to put the price below £4000 :(

Insurance is a joke :@

That is shocking . . My brother is gunna start driving soon and I dread to think what hecwill be paying. Instead of abs why not try just getting better pads and disks? Obvs not abs but you would stop alot better!
