Yeti 170

Featured Replies

Sorry if I've missed this somewhere, but can someone tell me are Skoda going to be doing the 170CR engine with a DSG box.

I've got an Octavia at moment, but am considering a Yeti, but as I have a leg problem a DSG is a must.

TIA.

Not as far as I'm aware, but you can have the 140 DSG remapped by Ben & Shark Performance. It will go up to around 185/190bhp and around 390/400NM torque.

So why bother with the 170 if you want DSG?

Mike

PS there are a few people who will be doing this when their vehicles turn up.

Thanks Michael.

Try a search as there are lots of similar posts asking this question. Generally speaking, the warranty on the engine and possibly drivetrain components will be void and insurance companies will make a charge for the additional power - this is dependant on the company in question however.

rockhopper, I'd like the extra oomph from the 170CR, but I suffer from tendinitis & knee damage in my left leg, so DSG is required.

However if the only option is the 140CR, then it may require a rethink.

Insurance - you should inform them, because if I investigate your accident and I find out, then you will not be covered and you will then be liable for all costs as you will not be insuredemoticon-0106-crying.gif

As regards warranty. There are some companies out there - superchips as an example, who will cover the engine etc as part of their guarantee.

I do not know who else has this guarantee, but Celtic Tuning said that they did, but it wasn't on their website. Now if they are offering this guarantee, then they are not expecting to have to pay out, so they don't think the remap will cause any problems with the engine etc. If in doubt, speak to Ben at Shark Performance, I forgot to ask him if he offered any warranty/guarantee etc.

Re: Warranty - they have to find out it's chipped first...I've had a couple of claims post my A2 being remapped and it's never been an issue. I could notice the difference but tech's used to driving a myriad of other cars probably wouldn't.

And insurance? It was a condition from my wife that it would be correctly insured - I used Adrian Flux as Privilege wouldn't cover me with an increase over 30% on power (75-97bhp...earth shattering...!). Flux charge me the same premium, excess and cover me in Europe for free.
