ideas needed

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Im looking for ideas to and ways to improve the looks of my MK1 VRs.

Im in two minds wether i sould keep her or sell for a newer car (currently looking at a sportback lancer 2.0d)

Its a stunning car with just 33k on the clock and fsh but im starting to get a little bored :S

Can anyone post pics of subtle mods they have done to the car ??

any engine bay pics would also be appreciated..

Thanks guys,

Peter

I cant see a lancer 2.0d being any more exciting!

There are loads and loads of info on here just do a search. It depends what your after but I think that the vRS is a good looking car and still looks good today. It does not look good with lots of bits added to it but there are some subtle mods like colour coding the trims and changing the bulbs to clear ones to freshen the look. A lot of people also fit the new style vRS badges.

It depends whats boring you but the options are endless.....

I've heard from more than one source that buying any Lancer other than the Ralliart would be a mistake on a par with buying a CityRover all those years ago...

Subtle changes you can make are to de-badge, de-strip and generally clean the car!

Mine has also had the grill painted, badges replaced and all the bulbs changed for clear/led items - all quite cheap to do and subtle but effective.

On top of that, nice clean number plates makes a big difference to the look of any car, and generally de-clutters the look from the back and front.

Colour coding the bumpers & door strips makes a lot of difference unless you have a black VRS. Makes the car look much more modern, Lowering also improves the look as well. If you're getting bored with the car get it remapped & that'll put a big smile on your face.

Craig

Your car looks fantastic

Wish I could get my black magic paint to shine like yours.

Bill.

Graig, that's one awsome looking motor.

Whats the best way to debadge de -strip the door?

Regards,

Peter

use a hair dryer to warm the strips and glue and peel away gently so most of the glue comes off with them, its a pain in the a**e otherwise (as i found out) :giggle:

As above, it's pretty easy if you do it like that, but a real pain in the arse if, like me you just jump straight in and rag them off!

so it didnt damage the paint at all then mate? are they really just stuck on? :smirk:

I've seen some that have had the strips removed that has damaged the paint. I personally don't think its worth the risk

sounds like you did it the same way as me :giggle: it took me 2 dys to get the glue off :(

was just letting the op know that a hair dryer is the EASIEST way

it didnt damage any paint and looks a lot better imo

Bar one or 2 tiny little scratches (and I mean minute!) mine are flawless. I did take 2 days machine correcting all the paintwork just afterwards though, so any bits of glue residue or surface scratches were polished out
