Am I missing something?

Featured Replies

I have just noticed that I might be missing something... :(

As you can see from the pictures, I don't have the vertical textile... mats?/pieces? (on the boot side of the wheel arches) in my boot...

On the left:

boot_left.JPG

And on the right:

boot_right.JPG

Also is missing the boot storage compartment "A", as stated in the manual:

boot_storage_A.JPGboot_storage.jpg

Is it because of the spare wheel presence? Can someone with one check that?

I know these are not important part, but anyway, the bad feeling stays :)

And I'm just coming back from the dealer, he said that they all come like that (maybe for Bulgaria, or from now on...), I also checked one demonstrator and it was like that (naked).

If it's a spare part to be ordered, can someone with ELSA check for part ID?

BR,

Boyan

My my April 2010 Elegance didn't have the storage bar at "A" either. However it does have the carpet on the inside of the wheel arches, but not the round plastic thing that looks like a bottle support. It does however have the bar at "B".

I queried the missing bits with my dealer & he said that they all come like that, though given the number of other problems I had at delivery, I feel he was fobbing me off.

(eg the spare wheel & boot floor had been swapped out into another vehicle, despite being there when I initially saw the car. A rear seat back had been damaged in the showroom & had to go off to the upholsterer for rectification. There were no handbooks or other info supplied with the car. I had to point these things out, the dealer "hadn't noticed" and took quite some time to sort them out.)

Manufacturer of happy drivers? Yes, but the dealers are not all as efficient as they should be!

my UK spec SE was delivered in july 2010 and doesn't have carpet on the boot sides, but it does have an elastic net for the boot floor, a plastic wrap round that clips into the right boot side and both part A and part B as in sebast's post

i don't have spare wheel or raised boot floor.

were those nets standard, sebast? i didn't get those.

Our SE delivered August 2010 didn't have the carpeted sides or A partition when I went to collect it, I didn't notice and nor did the dealer until I got home. Went back and he was apologetic and contacted Skoda. Apparently they told him they were all like that now! Anyway, don't know if that is true that they are all like that now, but he ordered the carpet and parts and fitted them at no cost to me. I did later complain to Skoda myself and they apologised and said it was very rare for a car to leave the factory with bits missing! But this sounded just like a standard reply. I still don't know whether my dealer had to pay for them and fitted them as a goodwill gesture or if there are any others like that about, but he is an excellent dealer and he may well have done.

Ours has the spare wheel fitted also. Tony

Thanks for this post; had a feeling that the carpet had been dropped (cost cutting I suspect) some time ago possibly MY2011 :wonder:

I'm beginning to wonder what I will get on Saturday.

Will there be a full RRP?

Will there be carpet in the rear?

What else will be missing that I thought I was getting according to the brochure and the earlier examples I looked at?

I think the problem with SUK is lack of communication generally even with the dealers, our dealer is very good but he had not been informed of any changes. You'll have to wait and see what you get Fred! The winter tyre saga would never have happened if the dealers had access to the same information on their computers re chassis numbers/tyre sizes as SUK have.

Best of luck anyway, I'm sure you'll love the car, we are still surprised with it's performance. Tony

You are all blaming SUK, but how do you know that the factory have told them there have been changes? It does happen, and not just to Skoda.

Just noticed, that's a far superior looking piece of carpet in Sebast's boot compared with the thin carpet mat in my Elegance! :'(

Did anyone else in the UK with a car delivered March/April this year get the bar at "A" in the photo? If they did, I feel another visit to my supplying dealer coming on!

No carpet on the wheels arches of my Elegance built WK 41.

Thank you all for the replies. It seems this is another case of shady behavior from Skoda regarding changes they made. :) Not SUK, to point out, as it's the same here in Bulgaria.

"What we've got here is a failure to communicate." if I may quote :)

Anyway, I don't think I'm really missing the "A" part since I have a spare boot and the space there is already confined, so you just might loose some space by adding it.

But regarding the carpet pieces on the wheel arches - I think they give warmth and elegance look to the boot. It just looks like it's missing something now. I'll try to speak to the dealer once more, but if he refuses to install them on their expenses, I think I'll try to order them myself (though I'm not sure how are they installed - sticking or click-clack :) ).

@ jessica - that seems to me as a goodwill gesture from your dealer! Respects to him for doing that!

@ speedsport - this is the "Textile boot mat for floor with spare wheel or false boot floor (5L0 061 190)"

5L0061190.jpg

(the picture is incorrect - this is the mat for boots with spare wheel! Mind the wheel arches also... :( )

@ YetiClive - yes, the 2-pieces net system came as standard with mine.

BTW, I've just installed the upgraded boot light - and it really is a change! Have to try to wire the second boot light now, just for symmetry. :)

BR,

Boyan

and another thing...

the brochure and the website clearly shows all yeti versions with projector halogen or HID headlamps (elegance)

when mine was delivered in july it came with normal halogen lamps and not projector type!

when i asked the dealer about it i was told they can change spec at will as this is clearly stated in the literature.

ho hum

Clive,

did you actually look at the lists of what each model specification is? Pages 10 to 13?

Can I also point out to everyone the wording in small letters on the bottom of the rear cover:

"The information in this brochure refering to specification, design, equipment, material and external appearance relates to the time at which this brochure was printed. Whilst every effort is made to ensure accuracy, the information in this brochure is not binding and is subject to alteration. Some illustrations in this brochure depict left hand drive models, with both standard and optional equipment shown. Please confirm exact specifications, prices and colour availablity with your Skoda dealer who will be notified of any specification changes as they occur."

Wording of that type will be found on probably every car manufacturers brochures in the UK, and whether we like it or not it is their legal defence if specs are changed. We can complain all we want but they can and do make changes as production continues.

My Elegance which I collected in October (dealer had it in stock, not sure when it was built) has:

  • The removable partition A - although I never knew it was removable until I checked just now!
  • A bunch of nets which I haven't yet unpacked so I don't know where they all go;
  • The bendy fence thing that clips to the wheel arch;
  • No carpeting on the wheel arch faces - I never knew it could have, and I'm certainly not missing it.

The dealer had it from the factory without a spare, but I got them to fit the spare and raised boot floor before I collected it*. I don't know whether that makes any difference to the other equipment. You certainly can't use the bendy fence thing with the boot floor in the raised position.

* As far as I can tell from the invoice, they forgot to charge me for these - bit of a result there!

I picked mine up in April and it most definetly has the carpeted wheel arches! I have the partition pieces also. I had the factory installed spare.

Makes me wonder how else they are cost cutting on the newer ones.

exactly my point!

not really complaining, just an observation.

Can anyone give the part IDs for the wheel arches carpet pieces? ETKA, somebody? :)

I picked mine up on Wednesday and it has none these and it is an elegance. I also have the factory fitted spare.

My Elegance was registered on 1st September '10 - don't know build date - and I have 'B', no 'A', and no carpet on wheel arches. I bought a mat separately for £30 odd quid. I have a net or something in a bag I haven't gotten around to looking at yet!

My spare was swapped out of another Yeti at the dealers, so I wouldn't be surprised to find oddities - these sort of inconsistencies do not inspire confidence, though.

As I previously posted, when I picked up our August 10 SE, I only made a fuss because both I and the dealer were both convinced the missing items were a mistake, as neither of us had seen a Yeti without the wheel arch carpet at that time. It now turns out that it was a change by Skoda. Luckily for me he is such a good dealer that he put it right anyway, it certainly seemed to take about 90 minutes for them to remove the luggage bars and strip the boot of everything and to fit the carpet, I don't know whether it was self-adhesive or not, but they made a very good job of it. I think I will sort of tentatively broach the subject with my dealer...emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

Finally I have some progress on the subject (not with happy ending though).

I paid them (Skoda Bulgaria) a visit again, and insisted on someone checking for that trunk insulation. ETKA was unable to provide such part number, so they decided that the whole plastic panel (the side of the boot) comes either with or without this carpet pieces. Than we proceeded and checked all the Yetis currently at the wharehouse (6-7, all trim levels) - none of then had such one. So obviously SkodaCZ decided to reduce some costs and silently cut them form the deal. Finally we found the first Yeti to arrive here in Sofia (so 2009), which is a demo, and it had them! And it was with spare wheel, not a top spec model. So no relation with these.

And the "brilliant" solution from the dealer was that they could check which type of plastic side panel (for the trunk) relates with the oldest version of Yeti, so I can order 2 pieces for each side (at the ridiculous price of ~80 euro each plus ~50 euro for work)... I declined, of course. For that price, I'm going the DIY way.

So for anyone who's interested, here are the part numbers of the plastic side panels for the trunk:

5L6 867 427 - left + letter!

5L6 867 428 - right + letter!

The letter denotes the color, I think.

Thanks for the update, I'm amazed at the number of undocumented changes that have occurred during the Yeti's relatively short life.

As you can see, even in a top-spec car these carpet pieces are missing now: (comparing with Tiguan's all-carpeted boot)

I wonder how much they have saved by not supplying these...

I don't much like that reconstituted-squirrel-fur carpets anyway... so I think the Yeti's looks far smarter for having only so little carpet visible. The black sides look much better. To my eyes anyway. I hid mine under a black Skoda rubber mat too so as to not think of squirrels dying when I open my boot... emoticon-0136-giggle.gif
