stuby aerial

Featured Replies

I've had mine (parts4euro) on for just under a year. No loss of signal for me.

Not all stubbies are equal.

Well my Sharan stubby was fine in London and fine over 98% of the UK (and I have driven from Cornwall to Edinburgh) but for that 2% it was not up to scratch with interference. Don't like my Yeti's Crystal Palace Tower of an aerial. And from about a month ago all Yeti's now come with the "Polo" sized aerial as standard. Hence wanting to go for that mid height route.

I think that 2% is South East Kent! :giggle:

Any confirmation that the new one fitted to the Octavia vRS is the same as the Polo one? A bit annoyed as my vRS is only 4 months old!

Will go out and buy one if it is.

I prefer my ripspeed one , details mentioned earlier. Signal quality A1

Still not sure about the '1 ball' :giggle:

How are things mate?

Still counting down the days till the 18th

Agree. The 65cm one I had from a Sharan had useless reception. What is the part number for this one? OR the shop you bought it from please?

Just went to my local VW dealer and asked for a new polo antenna ;)

Just went to my local VW dealer and asked for a new polo antenna ;)

Price please? There's a VW dealer around the corner from my work.

I love my whippy.

But then I do drive in an area where my favourite station is poor - so I'm not going to change.

The diversity antennae make a big difference - the previous car dropped signal regularly. The Octavia usually keeps signal all the time :)

It's going to be down to you - if you like the radio but are on the fringes of acceptable reception then swapping for a smaller aerial is possibly going to hurt performance - otherwise go for it.

About £14 for the new polo aerial, according to my local VW dealer.

the picture on Allams website just looks like a normal beesting (or at least it does on my phone!)

You need to be careful with this one, I got a OEM Polo aerial but it is a 6mm thread from 2010 on so it didn't fit! :@

EDIT: I have to say this has been the bane of my life, first fit was the Sharan stubby, looked great but reception was pants, next was the Polo aerial, which I find out has a 6mm thread (Octavia MK2 is 5mm) the part number for that by the way 6R0 035 849 A. I have now received a 3rd carp type from the bay! Similar to BluvRS's ripspeed number but smaller........avoid that one!

So, last chance saloon, the one shown in 90000's post does state its 5mm so I am going to give it a go! Perhaps the Polo used a 5mm thread prior to 2010?? :S

Well that's very odd. As my Polo aerial fits the Octy2 perfectly! Would have been at the time of an 09-plate. Think I got it March 2009?

Can't see them having changed the thread size so soon after the current model's launch? :S

Random 'detailing in progress' photo, but it shows the aerial quite well too!

EDIT: Slightly better/more helpful?

I thought so to, but the thread on the Polo aerial I recieved in a sealed bag with a VW sticker showing part no: 6R0 035 849 A was 6mm and to big!

I'm with you though, why change it now?

This is another aerial on the bay, stated as suitable for cars 2009> and it has the same thread as the one I recieved. :S

I told you to gert the Ripspeed one , it comes with 3 different adaptors so no matter what thread you have it will fit

I'll check the one I have, when I'm able. See if I can see a PN on it.

Cheers dude, I have ordered the Polo type in the link earlier, just spoke to the seller who confirms it should fit the Octavia no problem, if not I can send it back for a full refund.

Not a bad result then - but best of luck

Briskys fault saying server busy, then posting twice! :dull:

That's happened once to me today; I just quickly hit 'Delete' on the duplicate though, before anyone noticed and made fun of me :p

I think the standard AM/FM masts are 5mm thread. The masts with the 6mm stud are the Hirschmann type, made for the Sat-Nav bases.
