That engine has only been out a few months in the Octavia so there won't be many problems raised yet. May be worth checking VW forums for reliability of the mechanical components...

Also look for topics on the 170hp CR, virtually the same engine, I've had no problems with mineemoticon-0100-smile.gif

I've got the CR140 in my Scout, and its great. Refined and economical, and decent torque. No problems with the DPF so far despite hours being stuck in traffic.I'm happy and its a big improvement over the PD version in my opinion. :smirk:

Another CR140 Scout owner here, and am very happy with it.

It's much more refined than the PD, sitting halfway between a PD and a Petrol.

As Raglits says, it's fairly new to the Skoda fleet, but has been in VW's for a while now.

I've noticed a couple of DPF regens on our 2-month old CR140 Scout, which resulted in a disconcertingly (but apparently entirely normal) strong burning smell. Otherwise, it's a smooth and relatively quiet powerplant, with plenty of low down torque, especially in re-mapped 125kW form.

I wonder if they will have the same turbo problems???

My CR170 needed a new DPF under warranty after 40k miles.

Other than that (and the length of time it took them to work it out) I'm pleased.

All good here - only done 47 miles though
