Wet floor, Again !

Featured Replies

Hi,

I know this has been asked a million times, but my rear passenger foot well is soaking wet (well solid this now due to temp).

I have checked the door carrier on both N/S/R and N/S/F doors and the sealant that i used last year seems to be in A1 condition.

I even left the door cards off, put the door clips in and put blue paper round the door to see if i could spot any leaks and nothing.

Before the snow put hose over the rear section (with door cards off and blue paper round door), and nothing.

So anywhere else i should be checking, the other foorwells are fine, the boot is dry, the connection for the rear wash wipe is fine.

This is doing my head in.

Cheers

Which connection did you check for the washer pipe? There are TWO inside the car - one in the boot lid, and one under the trim beside the NSR seat back.

have you checked the rubber seal to make sure there is no dampness (or water) on there, or inside? I know you said the sealant looks perfect, but I had a hole the size of a pin pr1ck in mine that was leaking... and it was barely noticeable until i ran my finger across to feel for dampness.

Other issues to check are: -

1) washer connections as mentioned,

2) possibly the pollen filter could be worth checking.

Hope that helps.

On my last Fabia.. the connection by the back seat popped apart but kind of stayed together enough to just be weak and leak.. so if your wash wipe seems a little low on pressure I'd check this again..

Have you checked the front passenger foot well towards the B pillar, under the matt? Could be seeping back from the front door.

On my car I was rather surprised to find that sealant had already been applied (presumably under warranty) - and it was STILL leaking. It turned out that additional screws had been fitted to compress the carrier onto the door at approx 100mm intervals - and these hadn't been sealed! So water was coming through the lowest one. Taken out, sealed and screwed back in it's fine...
