Wild stab, but 'open circuit' suggests you've not connected everything up correctly? Does the radio still work? Might just be a compatibility problem...

Tighten the nut, I had this when I fitted a GPS shark fin to my car. I tightened the nut a bit more and cleared the fault code and it hasn't returned.

when you changed antenna how plugs were on your old one?

when you changed antenna how plugs were on your old one?

There was only one plug, I changed the plug housing, took the plug housing of the original antenna and put it on the shark fin so it would fit together.

I did notice that when I unplugged the shark fin I got FM radio but no AM and same fault came up and when I plugged it back in got AM but not the best reception and still same fault.

Yes Deep did you find the solution as i am getting the same problem

thanks

The Bolero has two aerial inputs.

Antenna 2 covers FM signal and is the roof mounted aerial.

Antenna 1 covers AM/FM signal and is either in the rear windscreen (saloon) or rear side window (estate).

The 'open circuit' fault occurs if one is not connected properly or 'phantom power' is not being supplied to the aerial because it does not need it (if it's the wrong aerial type).

Most people who retro fit Bolero or Columbus units have to live with the 'open circuit' fault as their car won't have had two aerials from factory; just the roof mounted one (unless going from factory fitted Bolero to a Columbus for example).

The only VAG 'shark fins' that actually support radio reception are the ones with a stubby or whip aerial as well as the shark fin..

Did you connect the aerial lead to a white or purple FAKRA connector or to an ISO connector on the new aerial?

The purple FAKRA (which a lot of people think is FM) is for GSM aerials (phone). A picture of the new shark fin and/or a part number would help here.

I still get the fault with one of those on my retro fit Columbus (and previously Bolero) on my 55 plate. I get FM, AM and RDS-TMC fine, it just doesn't seem to like both sockets connected to a single feed and I still get the open circuit fault logged.

fixed my fault

maybe there is a different type of splitter in the octavia

this will get rid of the fault

I fitted a Bolero in a Skoda Octavia and used one of the 2 - 1 adaptor like in the link above and no fault
