Winter tyres

Featured Replies

Hi

I've just changed the existing tyres on my Skoda Fabia 3 (205/45 R16 83V) for 4 Sunny winter tyres (205/55 R16 91T). The passenger side back tyre is catching noisily on a rubber projection on the back of the wheel arch. Does anyone know what this is? If some is filed off, will anything be damaged? Are these tyres ok and safe?!

Any helpful suggestions much appreciated.

Welcome to Briskoda.

Not sure on your query but sure someone will be able to help.

Davy

Hi Fabigirl

the problem you have is, that you were sold the wrong sized tyres. 205/55 is the size for an Octavia and not for the Fabia.

They should have given you 205/45 16 tyres, the same size the summer tyres are.

Welcome aboard! emoticon-0144-nod.gif

As said....Wrong tyres!!!

You need to change them I'm afraid :S

Who sold you them?

Did you do any research?

I would not drive the car with them rubbing the wheel arches :(

That's probably all I needed to know! Thank you: I'm due to go back to the fitting centre tomorrow. The dear boys can remove them! This is why sites like this are good: so many men working in the motor business take advantage of women: it's sickening.

And try to get something different than those cheap bad working chinese tyres.

Hankook and Kumho are the only cheaper brands I know.

And dont let them sell you old stock.

If I hear that a fitting centre is selling the wrong sized tyres I could explode.

They should be the experts and are dealing with the lives of their customers AND that of all

the other road users.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Welcome to Briskoda

I had exactly the same problem with 205/55/16 tyres. Theres a thread about it here

In the end I went with some 205/45/16s. A bit more expensive, but absolutley no chance of issues.

Hello and Welcome to Briskoda.
