Panoramic Sunroof

Featured Replies

Can anyone from personal experience say whether the Roomster cabin is colder in winter (like we are experiencing now or colder) when fitted with the panoramic sunroof?

What other negatives are there with the panoramic sunroof? (Excess heat in summer?)

Have two Roomsters, one with and one without panoramic sunroof. In Australian summers, one with sunroof is clearly a MUCH hotter car. Will get it tinted soon.

No colder in winter and no hotter in summer according to its regular driver (Mrs Trevorminor). It does make the car feel very airy and pleasant to travel in.

Hi xman

I have panoramic sunroof and there is no difference beween my old cars in winter.......................the old cars had small sunroof but when you looked there was practically no insulation in roof anyway except for roof trim.

In summer it does not heat up as it has blind system and even with blinds open the car does not get roasty. My previous car, a Honda CRv, was like a freezer in winter and an oven in summer............the Roomie is much much better.

Best regards

Scottie

Can't say that our Roomster Scout feels any hotter or colder than any other car. As others have said it does make the cabin feel really light and airy

J5 jnr loves being able to see the clouds

Can't say if it makes any differance temp, wise, as we had climate on all the time,

But makes the cabin nice and light, and our girls liked looking at the stars.

My Roomy with sunroof seems no hotter or colder than my old Schitroen Berlingo (no sunroof).

I love the sunroof and will definitely specify it on my next Roomy.

The only negative about the sunroof is the price

I'm warming to the Roomster - the sunroof is standard on the SE hence the question.

A big positive is that any snow on sunroof soon melts when your driving so clear any away before driving off other wise the first time you brake snow slides off roof and you can't see were you going

Deiseil 1.9 easy to drive in snow ,plenty of pulling power at tick over speed in first

Have owned mine for a whole year now and do not notice any real difference from our previous Vauxhall Meriva which had no sun roof at all. Been out at night in recent cold weather several times, system and therefore the car warms up quite quickly. In summer we do tend to pull the blinds across at least partially but the aircon seems to cope very well.

I stick one of those reflective window screen covers between the mesh and the glass when its cold - more because I sleep in the back and it keeps the sun out, but I think it helps with warmth as well.

Having driven 1200 miles + in the last month, mainly in sub zero temps, would say that the panoramic roof does not affect the internal temp of the car during winter, the heater / climate control is very effective, and this should counter any effects of the glass roof.

Agree with Mick on clearing snow on the roof before starting, as having an avalanche onto the windscreen when braking isn't the best idea.

I have the SE in Cappuccino. The panoramic sunroof is great. I haven't had any probelms with the cold as the heater in the car is so good. Cannot comment on the heat in the summer as I have only had it since October. My daughters love the sunroof and it makes the car feel much more spacious with the light.

The cappuccino is a nice colour as it seems to change depending on the light. Sometimes it looks like gun metal grey then others like the cappucino.

Living in Sweden i can definitly tell you that cold is not a problem! This winter we had temoeratures down to -30 celsius. All of my recent cars would have been struggling even trying to start. The roomster started in three turns of the engine (1.4 petrol) after 10 minutes the interior was warm and comfy, remember -30 celsius and with the panorama sunroof :) our sunroof is tinted and it can easily keep it nice and cold even if it's +35 celsius outside, that's with the half automatic ac "climatic".
