Remaps - experiences please

Featured Replies

All,

I've had my Superb PD130 running a Jabbasport remap to 193BHP/312ft/lbs torque for the last four years. It's been awesome, but I want a change.

I'm considering the Yeti as a reasonable compromise on practicality, safety, transport for me, the missus and two small kids and a bit of fun, too.

Can anyone give me the skinny on remaps? I'm not dead set on diesel or petrol, and I'm a bit worried about DPF issues. I *do* do small journeys, as well as longer ones.

I'd appreciate any direct experience of remaps on either petrol or diesel Yetis.

TL:DR - tell me about your remapped Yeti.

I having my 140 Tdi remapped by Shark Performance, so they are one of the best people to speak to. They have recently 'done' FocusZetec's 1.8tsi. I have an auto DSG gearbox. The remap to mine will be 185/190bhp & 390/400 nm. Looking forward to it. Just need to run it in first.

I like DSG's. This is a plus. Would love to hear what you think of it when you're done. Any potential issues with the DPF?

Great topic. I would also like to hear some info about this issue. I have orderedmy 1.8 petrol Yeti , and I was thinking about some chip tuning/remap. My father has VW Touareg facelift with 2.5 diesel engine and O.CT tuning done. I know he is satisfied with it, but he only drove it for 22 000km and all of that for less than 1 year.

I would like to hear some info about 1.8 tsi engine remap, anyone done it? Experiences? I saw on O.CT tuning site that with their tuning you get 205 hp, it sound little too much not to damage engine, any opinions? Also with ABT tuning you get 210hp which is also a lot. I take this two remaps because they are only one accepted by VW and Audi for quality, and you keep warranty with it. Anyone done this, please share experience with us.

Thank you

I'd probably also get the DSG remapped..but that's another story!

If it's any help I've done many miles in a 1.8T mkIV golf that remapped from 150bhp to 225bhp with zero problems 45k miles later...there's a lot of margin in these engines...

I have a remapped Superb PD140 DSG with DPF, Ben at Shark Performance did the mapping and so far in the 6 months and 10k miles since it was done I have had no DPF issues at all.

If you are worried about DPF issues, or just want a 'little more' from your remap there is one simple solution - Remove the DPF.

Shark Performance are able to do this on all PD and current (Bosch ECU) CR engines, leaving the OE DPF in situ and taking out the 'innards', so it still looks like the car has a DPF. They then do the necessary adjustments to the ECU to fool it into believing the DPF is still there.

Advantages? Free flowing exhaust, less back pressure, no long term DPF issues (getting it blocked), more power or better economy available (no DPF regenerations to use fuel)

Disadvantages? None that I can think of!
