Waaaay better than I remember on any one of my several testdrives!

Gonna be strange trying to remember to fill up with diesel... costly mistake to make if I don't!

I'm on hols from work next week, so methinks I will be driving far and wide :)

Nice one. Good luck with the new car. I'm sure you'll love it.

Good one  Enjoy it, but remember to run it in........

I've never done this, but here's a tip. If you ever fill up your Diesel with Petrol, or your Petrol with Diesel, then never take it to the main dealer for repair. The reason is that if you ever experience problems in the future which should be covered by the warranty, the manufacturer can always play the wrong fuel card. My colleague, whose wife has a diesel A2, which was once filled up with petrol by mistake, experienced this first hand.

Any tips on what diesel is best - brandwise etc?

Always head for the stinky fuel pump ;) I have to say I've not managed to come close to this yet, despite sometimes filling up the bosses Saab 93 with unleaded... I think its one of those things I'm paranoid of doing, so avoid it like the plague :o

Congrats! I get my first test drive tomorrow afternoon. It is a brand new forecourt VRS that I reserved last Saturday. If it's any good ( ), I'll put down my deposit and collect it Saturday week.

Diesel? I say just use the cheapest stuff... I've not noticed any serious advantages from paying up to 10% more for BP Ultimate.

Yep cheap stuff here too. All comes from the same source anyway and getting more miles to a tank is false economy if you're paying more for the privilege ;)

lol... might just do the trick for the first few trips :)

I bid on one - decent for the price.

You say cheapest fuel is ok. But always make sure it's a decent brand still, ie Esso, Shell, Texaco, BP. Supermarket fuels are cheap as they don't include the cleaners that premium brands do. These cleaners should make a difference to the engines life.

Well, that's what the BP rep told me when I ran a petrol station for them. I had to ask myself as I didn't know why the huge difference in price. Tesco, Sainsbury etc fill up their tankers from everyone, depends who is cheapest and just omit the cleaners to make it cheaper still. Fine to use it if you know you will be selling soon or its an old car anyway. A newer car, I'd rather use a good brand and know its doing even a little bit of good.

good luck with your new car

if i see you i wiil flash (the lights)
