Fabia brake light bulbs?

Featured Replies

Anybody know the part number for Fabia brake light bulbs? I got some Philips fast react bulbs off ebay but they don't fit, the brake lights appear to have that weird offset pin lark going on with the brake lights as well as the indicator bulbs (I.E. they're at different heights like most twin filament bulbs BUT they're not opposite each other like most brake light bulbs I've seen are). I don't have the car at the mo to check the bulbs for myself, so does anyone know which ones I need? Owners manual says P21W which looks to me like another bit of bulb mis-information as that's the single filament bulb for the reversing lights, isn't it?

mine says 12v p21/4w as the code

The staggered pin is correct, it is so that the bulb is fitted correctly (you know when you see a cars rear lights and one is brighter than the other, it is one of these bulbs fitted wrong so that the brake light is on instead of the rear light).

You can get them at any motor accessory shops; they are not special to Skoda but are fitted to most modern VAG group cars (and probably other cars as well). Don't buy them at a Skoda dealer because you will probably have to pay over

If you want fast acting have a look at www.ultraleds.co.uk the 25LED superior lamps are excellent but a bit expensive.

The staggered indicator bulbs will be available in February and should look good as you will not have to look at an orange bulb behind a clear lense.

Can you actually fit these through the aperture in the back of the lamp or do you need to take the lens off to get them in? I've had some LED brake bulbs in the past and they tend to be very dim unless they have 90 degree mounted LEDs - as the reflectors in the lamp unit are barely used at all. Which means from an angle wider than the pretty focused dispersion of the LEDs, you might as well have no brake lights at all...

Plus, do they do them in skoda fitting? Fabia takes 566 bulbs, these are 380 it seems...

For those who might be interested... Phillips don't make fast-react brake light bulbs in a 566 fitment, for now - so I'm being refunded and saving anyone else on here the bother!

Wondering if someone could post a link to a suitable, correct fitting for Furby vRS, LED replacement bulb ? Would be very much appreciated as I like the idea of not having to worry about the lights on the car any longer :D

To my knowledge, they don't make one yet. Plus many of these larger size LED units require you to take the light cluster apart to fit them - as the LED panel is larger than the hole it has to fit through... quite a palava really...

Thanks for the feedback - that's a real shame :(

Hopefully by the time the normal bulb(s) fail they will be manufacturing these in a format that fits :D

It's probable they'll start making them if this bulb fitment is becoming more popular, as suggested - but chances are you'll still have to take your lamp unit apart to fit it...

If you were feeling really creative, you could do a much better looking and perfroming job by buying a bunch of LEDs and resistors, and a scrap or new (they're cheap anyway) rear clusters, and drilling and mounting the LEDs directly into the back of the lamp unit. If this was done carefully and with enough LEDs, it would look infinitely better than LED bulbs made to fit your standard holders... it'd work much better too as you could vary the angles that the LEDs shine at... just a thought... :D

The 25 Superior LED versios will fit through Skoda's back plate as I've tried a brake light bulb in my Octavia.

The Dual Filiment bulb in the bottom on the octy is tail/fog the brake light is the standard fit single filiment bulb.

I have e-mailed the site about indicator and off set dual filiment bulbs and they say they will have them around the end of February.

Not sure what I'll end up doing there, will keep my eyes out for them though :D
