Z4 has been sold.....Range Rover Sport beckons methinks..

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've got rid off the Z4.....got bored, too cramped...and I want something larger with a 4x4 capability...

I'll make no bones about it....the Range Rover Sport is number one on the shopping list. 2006/2007 2.7 TDi HSE is what I'm after....

I have 20-25k to spend....reliability is a major concern. X5 is also a contender (but i am not to big on how it looks), Q7 is also a contender but its freaking massive! Way too large for just me and the wife...

The Fabia VRS is not going anywhere though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'll be shopping in May/June/July.....

Anyone here have one, owned one???

LOL Mate....so am I!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But i'm thinking Feck it.....Ya only live once!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :giggle:

X5 is also a contender

My friend had an X5. Most expensive car he'd ever bought; least reliable car he'd ever owned.

My Boss owns a 56 plate 2.7TDI Vogue and whilst it has ALL the toys, it's a bag of w@nk to drive. Slow, wobbly, poor turning circle and the thing is damned huge. Never would I buy such an over priced piece of dog barf.

Just a thought, why not look at a Q5 then if the Q7 is too big?

Ditto on the X5, next door had one and it spent more time being fixed by BMW than on her drive.

If you are going for a range rover then get the proper one and not one thats considered to be a poor mans range rover. Top gear slated the sport, they hated everything about it.

We had one on lease on an 08 plate, it was just a sport though 2.7 tdi V6 with leather and I've got to say... Shockingly bad!

Crap build quality(could pull bits of dash off it was that loose)

Crap power

Crap economy

Decent looks though

If you can afford abit more go for a facelift 2009 TDV8 as I believe this has corrected most of the above issues

Volvo XC90?

Skids yeti :)

Volvo XC90?

This is the 1 i would go for. Cheaper, Bigger inside, Better Cabin Quality, better looking and great in bad weather.

I actually thought about getting rid of the vRS for 1 when the weather got bad up here.

Badge doesn't scream "I'm a ****, get out of my way!" either. Would consider the Disco or a full fat RR if I needed the capability but a RR Pikey is not the impression I would like to give people.

Range Rover Sport scream drug dealer, for me it has to be the full fat Vogue.

Build quality has never been much of a strong point but the newer ones are a lot better, my dad owned three of them and they all had their "charms" like things dropping off, mechanical issues.

I'd get a Yeti, but I am converted on Skodas now.

Some great responses here....

After some consideration i think I'm not going to opt for any Land Rover. Having looked at the RRS forums the problems these cars are suffering from make you :( Major suspension failure, engine seizing, trim falling off, EGR Valves, CV joints needing to be replaced every 1000 miles etc...

Forget that!!!!!!!!!

Looked at the XC90, seems it suffers from reliability problems too. I had a drive of my mates E53 X5 3.0d. Cracking motor....and they can be had for a lot cheaper than the new gen or current fleet of SUV's...

Come nextyear I'm going to buy an X5. Probably a 2006 variant. I'll make sure to change the transmission oil as the gearboxes seem to fail after 50-100k on them!!!!

Considered the new shape M Class 320?

Seem to be a good s/h buy and a much better beast than its predecessor.

im going for the x5... 4.4 v8... more bullet proof engine than the derv. plus hopefully ill get on lpg'd already

Are there really cost savings to be made with an LPG 4.4 v8????

I mean if the LPG is doing 15-20mpg....then i suppose so...

I need to do some maths!
