Front suspension design change

Featured Replies

I understand, from another post somewhere on this forum, that the change back to electro from piezo was because the piezo was so unreliable.

hi mike,

but the very same engines destined for vw (and audi as well) vehicles use common rail 3rd gen. piezo technology

please explain (???).

thanks. peter.

  • Hi Mike, unlikely that has changed; possible reduction in weight :wonder: and improvements in ride/handling would be my guess. As stated this set-up is similar in concept to that on the later Fabia I

The injectors used in all the current Yeti 2.0 TDI CR engines have the same part no 03L 130 277 J.

Carried out a 'global' search on the VAG parts system and these same injectors can be found in just about every currently fitted 2.0 TDI CR engine across the entire group.

Edit note: The previous CBDB 140 & CEGA 170 engines used in the Yeti and now withdrawn were fitted with injectors to P/N 03L 130 277. These also match the injectors used at the time across the group (again these engines have now been replaced).

something is overlooked here or my information is not correct, sorry.

so if i understand it correctly you are saying that all 2.0 tdi cr equipped vw cars are currently using electromag injectors as well.

ok, and what about the audi? are you sure that the audi is using the same injectors as vw and skoda? i think at least the audi is using piezo injectors in their 20 tdi engines. (at least in their longitudinally mounted cars a4,a5,a6)

for example the new 1.6 tdi in the yeti greenline is using piezo injectors that i know for 100%

Hi,

the parts 'book' does not state which type of injectors are being used, however it can tell you what other vehicles (and engine codes) they are fitted in under that particular part number. Audi A3, A4, Q5 and TT are included in the list in this case.

The 1.6TDI CR uses injectors with the part number; 03L 130 277 B which are also used in Audi A1 and A3

New front carrier now showing for Octavia II as of 05/12/2010 however unlike the Yeti there are different versions (part no's) depending on engine type.

Edit:

must have been half asleep; just realised the appearance of the new assembly carrier is up to not from 05/12/10 :wonder: and going by the engine numbers possibly the Indian Tour version :wonder: :wonder:

Very strange as it was not listed against the Octavia before the last round of very recent updates.

i wonder if the carrier change is limited to oct 2 pre-facelift models which are sold here as octavia 2 tour or to all current octavias combi.

otherwise it will be interesting to see if this change affects also vw models (golf6 , don't know about the new jetta which is being manufactured in mexico and passat is out of question i think)

it was mentioned earlier in this discussion that this steel carrier change for yeti is in line w/ golf 6 suspension and that therefore it is good and it possibly betters the road manners.

but the golf 6 still uses aluminum carrier.

and i see it purely as a cost cutting measure and cheapening of the car (it also is an inferior solution that's for sure) .

As time goes by, I'm getting more impressed with the suspension of Elsie, she seems to be getting better, as if the suspension beds in/softens slightly as the car is run in.....

  • 2 weeks later...

Both the cars pictured have the subframe design used on earlier Superbs and Yetis, not the revised all steel construction.
