Have been offered £250 as a "goodwill gesture"

Featured Replies

Due to my disappointment at not getting "Power folding mirrors" and also due to the fact that I had to put it in the dealer's to get the memory seats re-programmed in its first week, SUK have offered the above.

Any idea on what the 1st service should cost and whether there are any "must have" accessories for an Elegance with RRP?

I'm in the same boat, decided in the end to put half to first service (£125 roughly about right) and the balance to accessories. In reality most of the 'accessories half' will go toward steel wheels for my winter boots next year :smirk: Otherwise there is not too much else for it to go on that I really wanted. That reminds me I need to get hold of 'Skoda Will Fisher' as I still have not received my confirmation note :'(

I think several of us have had that offer, Dave?

In my case it's in the form of an email from WF - standard text as received by several others.

It's going towards a detachable 'swans neck' tow bar.

I'm also awaiting details of the 'late delivery' payment (triggered after 18 weeks and starting @ £150 up to a max of £300) and resolution of my complaint about the RRP emasculation  (See separate thread - http://briskoda.net/...forcing-panels/ )

I too have received the £250, which paid towards...mudflaps, decorative door sill trims, decorative rear bumper trim, textile mats and a boot mat, and a couple of rubber boot mats, polystyrene filler and a boot floor, so I can use my internal bike carrier, even though I was supplied with the spare wheel option.

I've been quoted an approximate all in cost of £180 for the first variable service that I reckon my car will need in 2 - 3,000 miles. That also includes a courtesy car for just the cost of the fuel used.

My experience of Skoda servicing is to shop around, as the costs vary considerably for the same thing, from different dealers. I simply phoned around 6 dealers within 40 miles when we had my wife's Roomster serviced for the first time a couple of years ago. I was staggered at the markup that some try to get away with.

I understand that things like labour vary dependant on the area but without giving too much away, one Essex seaside town should be much the same as any other for this exercise!

If I were you, go for a free first service, free set of rubber floor mats and rear bumper protector. That totals about £250.

I am amazed at the "looose" cost of the first service you all seem to experience. The job is completely defined by Skoda, so the cost in time and parts is known in advance. Any extras will be warranty items, so not to be paid by the owner, but by Skoda.

Why do you put up with the Shenanigans? You should be able to insist on a fixed price in advance. Period.

Yes, I'm still waiting for confirmation of all this too. Mr Fisher earned some brownie points early on in the folding mirrors debate but appears to have gone awol in recent weeks.

Re the textile mats - thought they were standard on Elegance trim - not another grey area please ?

No standard fit mats with mine, delivered in June. I even specified them as extras when I ordered the car and they were forgotten on delivery by the lease company. After about 4 months I was given a boot mat instead as they could not supply the factory supplied mats, I am using the cheapo ones the lease company supplies with their logo on until they wear through.

As far as I know the mats have always been an extra on the elegance. Bit of a dissapointmaent really as my previous superb comfort model came with excellant matts as standard even though not a top of range model.

Perhaps it's dealer discretion - no doubt our Mr Rothwell could confirm?

I think that the Elegance does usually come with free carpet mats - mine did. BUT they are not that good in comparison with the OEM rubber mats and I much prefer those.

Mats are NOT standard. You have to pay extra for them as per the catalogue.

James didn't provide me with any, but he did give me a good deal.

The dealer fit mats are better than the factory fit ones. They were discussed quite a while back.

Your dealer may have given them to you for free.

The textile ones can be power washed I seem to remember reading, so I went for the textile ones. Not as luxurious as my old BMW ones, but a lot less than hall the price, like the rest of the car.

Mike

Wel I spent my £250 for the mirrors and £300 for the lateness in delivery towards my Westfalia towbar at James!
