Aluminium bonnet damage?

Featured Replies

Some low-life jumped on my bonnet Christmas Eve. :(

I've been to Dent Magician who reckoned that they could fix it for less than £100. Would have been cheaper than insurance excess plus bumped up premiums.

Just been to pick my car up but they say they can't fix it. Tried for some time but as it's an aluminium bonnet it keeps "moving around" and can't be repaired.....no charge.

Anybody else have a similar experience?

Aluminium? I thought the bonnet was made of steel?

It is, my magnetic tray sticks to them anyhow..lol

Take it somwhere where they know what they are doing, AKAIK only some Jags have alum parts.

If they are saying it's aluminium they the are wrong. Very few cars have aluminium body parts, and certainly none for Octavia money. Sounds like they've misjudged the work involved or just plain bodged it.

VW Lupo GTi

Audi A2, A4 and A8

Just off the top of my head for regular production cars.

Hmmm! Bonnet appears to be steel according to a fridge magnet.

I suspect that the Dent Magician tech decided there was too much work to do for his fixed fee per panel, there are several small dents and ripples left after the main dent popped out.

Anybody else had experience of dent pulling?

There's another Dent Magician about 5 miles away, might give them a go.

The dent guy round the corner from my house gave me an honest "you'd be better off ordering a new bonnet" when I showed him the Starsky & Hutch damage on mine after leaving it parked in town one evening. That said, I pushed the worst out from the inside myself, and only really notice it when the car's just been washed...

New bonnet or one from a breakers (if not FL) might cost less than a dent puller.

If this guy has pulled the worst out for free, then you could probably live with it for a short while and get a better price by getting the parts when they are available for the right price.
