Is there a Fabia Remote for Y-reg TDi Estate (comfort)

Featured Replies

Hi,

I bought my Y-reg TDi last year and it came with 2 keys, both straight bladed non remote type (one's got a light in it).

Is it possible to purchase a remote key fob (flip type preferably) and get it to function with this model?

The car has central locking which functions perfectly well, it's just annoying to have to manually unlock it when caryying lots of equipment.

If it is possible, what information do I need to order an appropriate transponder key with remote? Presumably there are different variations.

The only info I have ont he key is one side says 'FAB' the other 'HAA' with a 'W' marked in the black part where the blade connects to the plastic fob.

I don't have any PIN or SKC, happy to get this info from a dealer if needs be, or buy VAG Tacho/VAG Com VCDS if it's required.

I have the exact same model and year (apart from mines not an estate), and the same problem! would be good to know!

As above - Skoda produce a kit for this. Had it on my old fabia which was a Y reg. Just works off a separate fob. Not the biggest range in the world, but sufficient.

So this kit on Fleabay then? http://by146w.bay146.mail.live.com/default.aspx?rru=inbox

Are there any topics on fiting this kit? I couldn't find much searching. I'm sure it will come with fitting instructions but someone who's done it before might have a few useful pointers.

Was kinda hoping to have it all in a neat little flip key fob thingamy, I guess that's not an option, suppose I should have checked it out before I bought the car.

Ooooh, wait, what about this? http://tntautotuning.com/store/en/universal-remote-central-locking-keyless-entry-kit-yk51.html Mmmmmm Shiny!

Lol was pondering on posting a simpler topic as going from remote central locking to non is a bit of a pain. would a skoda dealer still do it or will they fleece you?

Just to update my original posting I have successfully fitted my remote central locking system, which I bought from an ebay store. It wasn't an official R-Click system, but all the wiring seemed very similar. I originally tried to follow the guide (pretty crappy) supplier by the manufacturer, which enabled me to fill the car with smoke as I fried 2 of the wires.

I then followed the instructions by Jonboyuk from his post (after I replaced the burned out cables) and it all worked fine. if anyone has come accross my post the place to go for instructions on fitting is here http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/77859-remote-central-locking-installation-guide/page__hl__rclick%20remote

It's actually quite simple if you already have central locking, just not the remote aspect as I did. I had intended to solder everything properly, but ended up being lazy and using scotchlok's instead. I found these were pretty cheap from 'The Range'. I did have a minor issue with the window winding down after locking, but this was simply down to a jumper on the controller needing to be changed over.
