What turbo did you go for in the end? Did you need a new intercooler etc?

I keep being tempted by PD140 cars now they are very affordable, but your tale of woe puts me off quite a bit!

Turbo Technics uprated/hybrid. New intercooler - just a stock replacement as the efficiency and flow seem perfectly adequate. Certainly better than an OEM Fabia SMIC! :wonder:

I'd still recommend one to be honest. This sort of thing is a risk with any sort of turbo-charged vehicle I suppose. You could of course argue that the stock turbo isn't quite robust enough, but then some run for '000k without bother. Comes down to luck of the draw, as with so much else :yes:

I suppose so Steve, but when looking at £5k motors, the prospect of a £1k bill around the corner is a bit unsettling. That with DPFs on most, and DMFs... how do people sleep at night!

The Picasso we bought last Jan has no DMF, no DPF and a pretty remarkable reliability record, hence at under 3 years old with 28k on the clocks it was snapped up at £6500. Quite fancy a Touran but would lean towards a PD105 tbh. Decisions decisions.
