Picking up the black beauty toady...

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

Just thought I'd share with you all my happy news, I'm finally going to pick up my new black furby vRS at 12:00. I'm so excited to be getting it as it's my first brand new car I've owned. All 3 of my previous cars don't come close to this.

I can now finally say I'm part of the elite briskodians

Thanks for all your help in getting me this far and swaying my decisions in the right direction you've all been an influence in one way or another.

Cheers

Just got back and what a lovely car it is.

There's really not much I can say about the car apart from I love it. Ummmmm.... Torque it's definately there when you need it but does drop off not long after it comes. Oh well 5000 miles here I come.

Thanks again.

Glad you like it! Surprised you're on the forums only an hour after picking it up tho!! :)

BTW - "And joint youngest owner on the forum" - how old?

19, just thought I'd add that as Walkie loves being the youngest owner ;)

enjoy your furby

I guess that is young for a car this powerful... what sort of insurance are you paying?

Good to hear you like it tho - I'm only on day 4 of owning mine, and I've never been as satisfied with a car (5 in just under 3 years of driving - one shed, two nearly new, two brand new - and lots of negative equity along the way) - but now I'm happy :D

Glad you like it mate :)

As for the running in period, I must admit I found it quite frustrating, as its difficult to drive the car properly if you are not wish to rev it more than 3000 like what I was.... especially in the lower gears, I find the need to find the upper echelons of its rev range in order to drive smoothly, especially if your wanting to go fastish in it.

Whats significant about the 5000 mile mark?

There is a school of thought, and I tend to agree with this (but I know that a fair number will disagree) is that its best with a diesel engine to let it warm up properly, and then just drive normally - including revving it quite hard - otherwise it will take longer to run in and will use more oil. Also, if something is to go wrong, then if driven normally and not babied, theres a chance for it to go wrong before the warranty is up.

Just a thought... its your call... I ran mine in very carefully, but looking back, and if I was doing it again, I'd probably just let it warm up and then give it some beans from the outset.

Know the feeling I will have had 3 new cars in a row when I pick mine up march 1st,

206gti first which was a good car, then a Clio 172 which I hated from day one big mistake!!! And I hope

I will be happy with the Fabia and stop throwing money away

What didnt you like about the 172? They are supposed to be superb hot hatches - I'm even curious about it myself, and might have considered one had it not been for the poor driving position, build quality and reliability of it...

Clio 172 is a fantastic car, my brother has one and it outhandles my Furby no probs & has a lot of standard kit for not a lot of money, also it's quick or feels it anyway! 5k rpm and it comes on cam, then hold on tight. not as quick as my remapped furby but still very rapido, and remember if it was modified it would anhilate me & most other cars, all for 11k brand new.

My brothers standard 172, before it had green panel filter, lighter alloys and lowered and not many miles on the clock, it's quicker now...

Sorry, no sound and it's 4mb. And poor gear changes, but it still does near 100 mph in 15 seconds.

0-100!

I've heard this is a decent amount of miles to cover before getting the car remapped. I want to get it bedded in nicely before I do anything to it, but I'll be getting a strut brace, filter and cupra intake as soon as I have the cash (hopefully pay day).

I've been trying really hard to stick to 3000 rev gear changes but like you said in the lower gears it's quite hard. I'll just drive the way I normally do and it should come along nicely.

The guy that sold it to me was a good guy to deal with and said that he'd bought one for his girlfriend and just got it revo'd at 191bhp.

The final deal was

Elephant are really good, we've got both Skodas with them and the house and anything else I can think of....

172 made no sense unless you were going mad, so much grip it was boring, the worst thing was the ride quality! It was never composed on any road even motorways

It just jiggled about and crashed over every little bump in the road which soon p***ed

Me of and I couldn

Jesus man, your making me feel old here! :D
