Water in boot

Not yet seemed to have reduced it, I think its coming from the area where the bootlid hinges are. There is a piece of spongy type material either side and I think this is absorbing the wet and transfering it into the car.

I have same problem - soaking rear passenger footwell and boot. Since I have a sunroof I thought it was blocked drain holes. I've 'rodded' them several times but no cure. Put tape over sunroof edges to ensure no water getting into sunroof but no cure. Then I after reading all the threads on the pollen filter fault i Took that off and silicon sealed it ( i used silicon because the filter tray was warped and this meant there was no pressure on the gasket 'furthest from the 2 bolts, therefore no sound seal. This didn't seem to cure the leak either. Noticed water on rear door sill on the inside plastic trim, looked at seal etc then I noticed a water fillet where the rear pillar trim sits on the speaker shelf. This meant the water was coming from the roof area. Looking round the tailgate seal and gulley I noticed that in the cavity where the tailgate hinge fixes to the roof there was water droplets. i felt inside the cavity and the sealant seemed to be loose. I put some silicon into the cavity using little finger forcing it into the joints. After the next slight downpour I looked at these cavities and found they where now 'holding' water meaning that before my fix this water would have gone into the roof lining or subframe and presumably finding its way into the car. Its too early to say I have found a cure but I know at least I have stopped some water getting into the car. I'll keep you posted. What a problem for a car that carries VW status.

I had that problem and used black tiger seal in the hinge area. completely covered the sponge bits and around the lip where the roof skin joins the hinge area. fixed my leak .

Also had leak from boot rubber seal (took ages to find but water was coming under left side seal and up into the boot) fixed that by running a bead of black tiger seal in the gully of the boot seal and refitting the rubber seal back to the boot.

Also roof ariel can cause a leak if not sealed or bolted tight enough

Have you got any pictures as I think this is where mine is coming from.No problems with the seal on the boot.

Many Thanks
