Finally got new Fabia VRS

Featured Replies

Having ordered a Fabia vRS early in August 2010 I finally took delivery yesterday.

Initial impressions? I think I like my other Fabia - a Fabia 3 / Elegance 105 bhp

On the vrs the delay caused by the dsg box when pulling away at junctions is a big drag. My Fabia 3 105 is much more sporty when pulling away and is only a little slower to 70 into the bargain,

Full auto and semi-auto are OK but full auto isn't really as smooth as I would like. Sport mode does what it says on the tin..

Lack of front fogs is scandalous. Live up in the Pennines as I do then fogs are really useful over much of the year. That fogs can't easily be retro-fitted is pathetic.

Lack of rear interior light is just penny pinching - can't see a thing in the rear at night. Hopeless.

Lack of mats as standard again is penny pinching. If I'm paying anything up to £17k for a car I expect more than this.

Glad I was able to transfer my old mats from my trade-in Fabia.

Have had the gsm2 system fitted but strangely it is not yet working with my iphone - it can't find it. I know there are issues here but thought the system did work now with iphone?

Lack of cable for the media system also penny pinching.

My local garage were very uncertain whether in fact iphone did work with Skoda's GSM2.

Maybe there'll be a new VRS going begging soon!! :-(

So....Is there anything at all that you like about it????

Did you not test drive?!

I can safely say that the iPhone does work with the GSM II kit as I tested my 3GS with the demo car before I ordered. It worked with every function too and I tested both making and receiving calls which worked just fine.

Got to agree with the others - did you not test drive it before you ordered it?

April fools day come early this year?! :giggle: ..... This is the most unusual post I've seen for awhile!

I think you will find the vRS would rinse all over an elegance 105 in a (theoretical) drag race to 70mph.

Can't believe somebody wouldn't testdrive a car before outlaying that kind of cash. Half the fun of deciding on a new motor is the test-driving stage!!

What Colour and spec did you get maybe someone will make you an offer ;)

Very sorry to hear you dont like the car. Other than the phone issue did you not notice the other things when you looked/test drove it.

The car i test drove (had 4,000 on the clock) pulled away sharp as you like and I test drove it from cold.

Again sorry it seems you dont like it.

Iphone 4 pairs perfectly with the car everytime i get in. Works briliant for bluetooth music and for making/receiving calls.

As for delay taking off, give it a week and you'll be more used to the dsg and able to get the most out of it.

Coming from the old diesel furby 130 bhp this is way faster off the line so theres not a hope your 105 is faster when the dsg is used correctly.

Not sure if Britain is different but i got mats as standard. Lack of fogs is a bit annoying but surely if you ordered way back in august you knew the spec you were getting? They are a fairly cheap option

Anyway good luck with the new car and if you don't like it soon sell it to someone who might.

I actually did buy my furby without driving it! Read so many reviews and it sounded like something that suited what I was looking for..... my only gripe is poor economy - i was hoping to see 40+mpg when pootling along

The fact you say your 105 is faster is laughable - just done over 600 miles and started to open her up - so quick off the mark with little wheelspin - I had a VRS Tdi Octavia which was quick once the axle tramp had settled down..... so much torque but not enough grip - the xds system seems to really help get the power down on the furby.... cant wait to get a few more miles under my belt and put her through her paces :o)

I had to look up 'axle tramp'. I was not sure if it was something to do with the suspensions or a hitch-hiker you had picked up.

I agree with you on that, I had use of a Roomster TDi 105 1.9 prior to getting my Fabia, and the Fabia is a LOT quicker that the 105!

and I did buy mine before driving one!

You sure it's a vRS? They didn't try and flog you a Golf TDI did they?

I have an idea.......Its a spoof thread!!

You dont have one?

Youve put a vRS badge on a 105 diesel?

Youre a spammer?

Your iPhone is faulty?

TBH....Nothing you have said bears any resemblence to the car we have

1. There is no delay in setting off...The DSG is really smooth and throttle response is quick

2. Fog lights do nothing IMO..The DRL's make the car look more visible to others

3. If you upgrade the interior lights, youll have plenty of light...Do you often sit in the back seat??

4. The iPhone/bluetooth set up function is easily done

5. Mats are the only statement I agree with you on...Even the pucker vRS mats are crap quality

6. My dealer gave me an MDi Cable...anyway..get one from eBay for £15

I second that Chris plus no photos uploaded either!!!! When I got mine couldn't wait to put them on!!!!

I agree on the interior lights as our kids find it hard buckling up in the dark..... how do you upgrade the interior lights Chris? Cheers

I'd also like to know this.

Is there some bright LED replacement bulbs available?

This has GOT to be a wind up. I can't imagine buying a new car without a test drive but find it even harder to imagine someone doing just that and the complaining about the way it drives. :giggle: Sorry, didn't mean to tag my remark onto your post Stu. Must have hit wrong 'reply'.

Find it really hard to believe you don't like the new vRS. :(

My only gripe with my car is the very poor air conditioning. It takes ages to demist, unacceptable really for a new car, but apparently they're all like it.

But the plusses are plentiful....not bad economy for so much power ,comfortable seats, great visibility, interior looks fantastic at night-time with all its' LED's illuminated and a much better windscreen washer capacity ( it seems to last an eternity )....just to name a few..

What definitely does it for me is the element of surprise ,so many drivers are left stunned at it's blistering pace. I don't think I've ever had so much fun. :giggle:

Seriously mate, give it time, you just got to learn to love it. :)

Hah yeah, I was going to say, how was my post a wind-up? :p

Will try and get a couple taken when I have a minute :)

I love ours...but I agree with the DSG lag...though ours seems to be improving & I've posted on ways to improve/drive round it.

Ditto no interior lights at back...I'd be keen to know about a kit?

We ordered asome mats from a place recc. on here...miles better than our standard Octy mats & they have VRS & blue outline to match the car...you sink into them...nice!

Ours has 1200 miles under its wheels now....getting quicker & quicker (it really felt tight for the first 300 miles) and economy is improving.

I have one on order (in the Republic of Ireland) and the demo had lights in the middle to light up the back...do UK cars not have this? I was happy to see them as it was one thing that annoyed me about the old vRS

Mine has the interior rear lighting, it's a welcome up-grade

Sounds to me like you have clearly bought the wrong car. The vRS is a fantasic hot hatch and simply cannot be compared to the standard car; the 105 TSi/TDi also is nothing like as fast. I have a 2.0 TDi 140 Golf and it paps all over that thing.

Also I negotiated free OEM mats and MDI lead as part of my deal; you could have done the same I'm sure, if you dont ask you dont get!
