radio cd

Featured Replies

wife has got into the bad habit of forgetting to turn the radio off, resulting in several flat battery situations. Anyone know how to switch it to the ignition side?

Is it an aftermarket radio? If so, do you mean so it turns off with the key being removed?

If so. . .

remove the HU. On the back, there should be a red, and a yellow wire with bullet (push together) connectors on them. These'll most likely be red -> red and yellow -> yellow.

You'll want to change them so that they go to red -> yellow and yellow -> red. Once that's done, turn the radio on, change a setting/ store a station. Then, remove the key, it should turn off. Then restart it, and the station should be stored still.

At least, I think that's it anyway.

thanks, its actually a skoda symphony which I fitted second hand a straight forward replacement for the original radio cassette

Ah, no idea then, sorry. Might be an option I think, but I never used the Skoda HU, and it's been a year since I had the VW one in mine. I do vaugely remember seeing an option related to the ignition though.

Just thought - think the option was called POW or POWER, something like that.

someone may prove me wrong but i thought the skoda units went off automatically after 20mins? or it could be a setting

if not are both lives in together? ignition and constant - this is usually a symptom of a dead battery when left on (just a thought)
