SCAM SCAM SCAM

Seen it before with an A4 rag top i was looking at buying....Currently away from the UK please send money into an offshore account blah blah blah if you email them

Yeah, I saw a similar one and she was in Italy and had left the car here etc... Not as good as the Audi I emailed about and the guy told me he was a Major in the RAF stationed in the US. But that wasn't a problem. You see he'd had the car taken over on a cargo plane and could have it flown back to the UK for me to collect at an airbase. His name was Major Sunburn iirc.

It's more of a problem than you might think as there is no such rank as "Major" in the R.A.F.

Only the Army has a rank of "Major".

The equivalent rank to 'Major' in the R.A.F. is Squadron Leader.

The equivalent rank to 'Major' in the Navy & Marines is Lieutenant Commander.

So you can tell your "Major-in-the-RAF" that he is a lying ****.

plus this car has oem leather, from what i understood leather didnt become an option until 2006? and if you look at the engine bay pic, the skoda badge is coloured and there is a box covering the battery as with the earlier models, i thought an 05 would have the black badge and the new fuse layout, altho it spossible to be a very early 05 model i suppose, still curious about the leather tho.

I know, it wa sfairly evident from his spelling that he wasn't officer caliber any way you looked at it. My response was simply

Original ad:

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2161134.htm

Defo scam, shows all the typical signs including contacting via an email address outside pistonheads, because if you did then it would go to a different person to the one running the scam.

Report advert via the report to admin link (top right of advert) and it will be pulled.

You're supposed to keep them going for as long as possible and waste as much of their time as you can in order to help prevent them scamming someone else. It's called scambaiting and can be a whole lotta fun :D

The price has now been altered and the email address removed. However the car is still listed as being in Lancashire, whereas the original advert placed the car in Merseyside being sold by a totally different person.

Maybe the seller/scammer is reading this and altering the advert as we point out the errors.

I take it you guys never look at auto trader? lol.

I reported the orig fabia thread on PH but i cant help but feel they've not done enough! So someone will get scammed for sure thanks to their lack of effort.

Does it cost anything to advertise on PH?

I'm guessing AutoTrader conveniently turn a blind eye to these sorts of ads cos they bring in money?

I have done that in the past but I was feeling fairly impatient that day.
