Phone connection

Featured Replies

Can anyone help with this little query please? I've paired my phone up via bluetooth and it recognises the phone & bongs nicely when I start up. Unfortunately after a few seconds it more often than not then seems to drop the connection, and I have to reconnect using the steering whell control. After that, the connection remains stable. Any ideas?

I wonder if its down to the type of phone. Mine is fine, but I have experienced problems with phone kits in the past that were phone model related.

I had that problem with my Octavia and the iPhone. Elsie and the iPhone 4 are a marriage made in heaven ::roll

I think some older phones struggle.

Now you're going to tell us it's a new phone.......

My HTC Desire was a pain, it kept dropping the connection. After doing a factory reset on the phone several times, it now spot on.

My phone lost connection with the car on a couple of occasions whilst out driving in remote parts of the peak district.

I noticed that when the phone (nokia 6303) loses signal it disconnects it's self from the car, but does not reconnect when it regains signal.

still don't know why, but if I am in a poor signal area I take my phone out of my pocket.

Thanks Dan, and other respondees as well. I also have a 6303, and it's not signal strength that's the problem, as we're in a good area around here. It's just that it "bongs" to tell me it has recognised the phone, bongs again within seconds to tell me the bluetooth connection has failed, and then bongs again after I re-connect....I'm an easy going sort of guy, but there's only so much bonging a bloke can take...

To RayGreen, I will try your factory reset tomorrow - thanks

My Samsung GT-B2710 has a nasty habit of dropping the connection to the Yeti after just a few minutes. It will usually reconnect straight away when I click on the steering wheel control, although sometimes it takes a couple of goes. It then does it again after another few minutes, and again, and again...

It doesn't seem to be related to signal strength on the phone. I have a suspicion that it may be related to the bluetooth audio function - disabling that on the car seems to reduce the frequency of disconnects, but doesn't cure the problem completely.

This has been happening with this phone from new so I'm not sure a factory reset will help, though I might yet try that. Samsung support for this phone is very poor (even the link on their web site to the online copy of the manual doesn't work). It took me lots of aggro to get the phone connected to the Samsung PC app on my computer. Now that that works I'm kind of hoping that they come out with some updated firmware for it soon - but I'm not all that optimistic.

I've also recently discovered that the browser on the new phone is utterly dreadful, so I'm thinking it may have to go back. Which would be a shame, because some of the other functions eg the built-in Google Maps with GPS, work really well.

My previous phone, also a Samsung, connected flawlessly (although the functioning of the BT audio was more than a little mysterious). It's missing some of the newer features on the GT-B2710, though.

My iPhone used to do this in my Octavia using I guess GSM 1 BT oem car kit. it would connect, then later disconnect and then reconnect automatically shortly after. Very annoying.

My phone does not reconnect automatically. Even more annoying!

Actually, I wonder if this is a setting for the phone somewhere on the Maxidot. AIUI it's the Yeti that initiates the connection when you turn on the ignition. When my phone disconnects the Maxidot just sits there sullenly complaining about the absence of a mobile phone, and I have to click the button on the steering wheel to get it to reconnect. Sometimes that works straight away, other times - such as yesterday afternoon - it fails four or five times in a row, but then works if you leave it for a minute or two before trying again. Altogether unsatisfactory :swear:
