Hi, yet another new Yeti user..

Hi all,

First of all I would like to say I have been reading this site for a few days now and found some really useful info on the Yeti and ownership.

Hope you don't mind but I have a question regarding the purchase of a Yeti.

I have within the last week received my Yeti Elegance 140bhp 4x4 in steel grey. The company I work for is part of the VW Group and we have a car scheme where we get a new car every 6 months. Decided to try a Yeti this time and I really like it. So I enquired about purchasing when the loan period is up and I have been given a figure of £15,500. Considering it's an Elegance, 4x4 and Steel Grey and the fact the RRP is roughly £21,700 do you think this is a good price..?

Many thanks

Hi and welcome

considering the demand and supply situation at the moment which is keeping the trading value up i think that is a very good deal. i have just traded my 1.2tsi in for a 110 4x4 and in a year have only lost £1000 and by the time i get my new one it could be nearly 2 years old.

enjoy you yeti and post some pictures in the members picture thread

regards Kevin

Thanks for the welcome and comments.

Will post pic's as soon as clean her again.. ;)

Hi Kevin,

Just wondering why the move from the petrol to the diesel. About 2 months ago, I actually seriously considered changing my 1.2 S to a 1.2 or 1.4 SE because I wanted the Bolero and Maxidot and various goodies.

Hi

As much as i like my 1.2 which i would of kept for 3 to 4 years before trading it in properly for another 1.2. i have had to move to the 4x4 club so going for the 110 because we live in a small village and the roads do not get gritted now days. the 1.2 is good in the snow but my wife is not confident and the slightest spin of the wheels makes her turn round and come home (i love the challenge).

but due to the tdi shortage i am trying to get a 1.8 with a little incentive from skoda but still waiting for email from skoda (they keep you waiting both ways  )

rsmarco...

in as few words as possible... bloody bargain

Hi Clive,

Thanks for the reply.

Do you really think that is a good price?

I phoned my local Skoda dealer today and asked for a good deal on the same car. His reply was he will get back to me but there isn't much to discount due to demand etc.

He then went on to offer me the Ex Demo which is a 110bhp 2wd Elegance with 5000 miles on the clock for 20,000..lol

The major thing that is stopping me progressing with this is the cost of the loan cars we get and a new car every 6 months. Saying that there are drawback i.e Insurance and if there is damage we have to pay etc. Just wish they added the Q7 to the list.. ;)

I want my own car and I like to play with them.

If you buy this, do you forgo your chance for a new loan car then?

But ultimately £15,500 is a good price, if you don't like it, you can always sell it on, knowing you won't lose a lot of money, or even make some!

I can definitely see the reason why you switch, my 1.2 was defeated by a very slight incline 2 months ago.

If given the chance, I would go for the 1.8, however the 1.2 is perfect for me to poke around town! I am sure you have read all about the DPF, ie if you are not driving long distances then it might be a better idea to go for the 1.8, but then again you can always remove the DPF afterwards and has lower VED.....

Hard choice!!

presumably you have to contribute for your "company cars"?

so if you have the yeti as one you will have paid something towards it.

i suspect that in 6 months that won't amount to the difference between £15.500 for it and the £22.000 for a 6 month old car of the same spec

which you don't know the history of.

there's no reason to say that 2nd hand prices are going to fall significantly in the next 6 months because of the delay on new diesel engined cars and generally long build times anyway, so i don't reckon you'll lose out valuewise.

you say you want your own car so you can 'play' with it.

presume you mean fitting little extras etc, which, no doubt you cannot do with your company car?

i still say bloody bargain!.

i forcast a few sleepless nights for you :S

all we can do is help you make the choice. ultimately it's yours so good luck chap

Hmmm... By telling all of us on here all about what you've been offered and will be paying, you have, at a stroke, reduced your potential market for a quick profit......

See - if you go for it ( and I reckon you should, without question) and then in the 6 months get pee'd off with the Yeti, you could sell it when it becomes yours - probably for summat like 20 grand, yeah??

But we all know the dosh involved, and if anyone was crying out for one real quick, without the wait, we'd only offer you 15501, or if generous, add a tenner!!

You will realise, of course, that I jest, tongue in cheek, eyes rolling etc.

Good luck - and well done!

Thanks for the comments a;;.

I am after opinions and advice from owners and TBH I never really thought about making a quick £.

Like mentioned, I do contribute to the Yeti and have already added this to my overall sums.

Much appreciated

M
