Hi all,
About a week ago I posted some pictures of the interior of my VRS in vRS Turbo Dash Modifications thread. Since then I have had a number of pm’s about how to change the colour of the interior led illumination. I have pointed people in the right direction on where and what led’s to purchase and also pointed them to a German website where I got the idea from. The site is in German (obviously) and gives a brief description on how to do the job, but it is by no means complete. I will if enough people are interested in the next few weeks I am willing pull the dash apart and take pictures and include detailed instructions on how to do this conversion.
The cost of the led’s for this conversion is less than £20, but be warned the actual cost could be considerably more! As with every mod there is a risk of breaking something be it a simple light switch or push button, there is even a risk of shorting out your instrument cluster which would cost several hundred pounds or more. That said the risk is slight as long as you are careful and take your time. The only specialist tool required is a soldering iron (preferably temperature controlled one) and a solder sucker would help but not essential.
Some pictures of what it would look like when finished :-

I think, not trying to rain on your parade here - I've got a link bookmakred of someone doing it in an Ibiza (same car bar dash removal). If you want, I can dig that out to save you a job?

But yeah - blue is good. (So is getting pictures in focus!)

:)

Pretty sure there must be guides around somewhere to removing the dash binicle somewhere too!

These look great. I'll be doing this in the near future. Got the LEDs already.

How difficult was it to get to the temperature controls and aircon button etc? Everything else seems to be fairly straight forward..

Yeah, looks good very similar, but so far only shows how to change the instrument cluster led which believe it or not is the easy bit.

Thanks again

I cheated on that one, all I did was to block off the original led's with bluetack and positioned some led's behind the temperature control panel !

I like the blue leds, however it loses the 'skoda' ness to it.. Kinda just reminds me of a VW.

If it was red or white however..

You can get a range of different colours. Have a look at crazyleds.co.uk

I don't know, in my mind that don't work on normal vrs furby but somehow in SE vrs furby it fits quite well...

If i was to do it, it would definately be white (i like blue allot but it) should be left for the VW

the blue led`s look really good look alot better than the green lol

I changed all the bulbs/leds in my vectra for blue/red from CrazyLED, never had a problem with them.

I've got a spare set of clocks and switches but I was going to go white this time, different to VW

Blue looks good emoticon-0148-yes.gif
