What's the white/silver ring round the wheel rims? Rim protectors?

its the way they have designed the wheels

Sorry, not trying to be dim here.

So the original alloy colour peeps out from between the face of the rim and the tyre?

That seems a bit odd. (and cheap)

Maybe fitting wider tyres would look better then.

Best colour choice mate ;)

Looks stunning, I just need to buy all my cleaning stuff now!

No thats how the wheels come.

Nice motor mate any pics of the dash please and boot space

will get you some later bud ;)

will get you some later bud ;)

Thanks

I do like the colour. The Red is so refreshing when you see so many black, grey and white cars out there.

Great job on the cleaning bud looks stunning. Love the red too.

Its a polished lip

I think either the dark chrome or just the plain silver wheels look best, that lip on the black wheels ruins it IMO.

Is the chrome vRs badge on the steering wheel missing?

Lovely enjoy it

looks really good. Not a colour id have considered but it looks really good. im not a huge fan of the red stitching on the seats though.

Post the pics up in the sticky at the top of this forum mate. think there were a few guys asking questions about pictures of the arm rest as well

Nice, funnily enough I also test drove my first one today, I was very impressed by the seamless gearchange in D It had me in 6th at 30 mph  and I hadn't realised we had left 1st !! I thought the 1.4 was unbelievably quick (for an auto 1.4) except when pulling away from standstill. I would imagine that leaving the car in S mode would become very tiring unless on fast twisties. I would say the paddles are a waste of time, even in s mode it seemed to do what it wanted if left in what it considered the wrong gear for too long. The paddles I also found to be two short and stumpy to be easy to use but would probably get used to their position. The handling was light years ahead of the mk1.

Overall I thought the car was very good and for an automatic 1.4 brilliant, however I think it would soon begin to wind me up having to look what gear it was in and having it decide to change when I didn't want it to, if it was possible to switch off the auto mode and red line it and hold it around the red line in say 2nd, 3rd and 4th (the gearing must be bloody low) then it would be great.

So I hope you enjoy your new car, I wouldn't be disappointed to be given one but I don't think I will be making purchase, shame.

If you shift the lever* to the left in drive it turns into escentialy a sequential box which is much more fun but most people miss this way of driving as they think DSG = Auto. I can see me using the sequential mode for a run or drive for the comute more than sport mode but thats just the way I want to drive it. It is such a mixed package it can be driven many ways. I suspect I have a slight advantage with the dsg being one of the playstation generation.

*I can't realy call it a gear stick as it doesn't select the gears

Once you get used to the gearbox Andy, its really very good and you just dont bother worrying what gear your in at all

As you rightly say, the handling is really very good indeed

All in all we are very happy with ours...It gets lots of stares from other car drivers and pedestrians

On the road, it really does fool BM and Merc drivers. :giggle:

What type of BMW and Mercs?

Pah and *******s, the salesman didn't tell me I could stick it to the left, I don't think anything is written around the selector to make it obvious (like on an open gate in a TT?) he just told me to use the paddles in D and if I wanted to have the revs held longer use S. Wonder if asking him how to red line it put him off :giggle: I have to admit swmbo was holding on rather tight around castle hill and the salesman pointing out how slippy the road was at this time of year

As it was I found it a struggle to change down into 2nd and hold it there whilst keeping the revs high, as you would have to going in deep to a sharp uphill bend iyswim, if this is (vastly) improved by knocking the stick to the left then I may have to go for another try :)

Flick it over to the plus minus with the select lever, then go sequential via the paddles.

It then goes quick and you dont have to take your hands off the steering wheel with the dash display telling you what gear you are in but no D, or S

Must admit I'm realy glad my first test drive was not with the salesman now, mechanic that understood people want to test the performance of a hot hatch on a test drive.

Basicly anything goes as long as its not ilegal. Epic win and it was that that sold me the car why the dealers are hiding the true performance of this hot hatch I've no idea but it does seem dumb.

*Warning conspirousy theory ahead* Maybe its VAG group orders to try and boost Polo GTI sales :giggle:

Your car looks fantastic B) .

Personally i love everything about it

As janner_Sy says don't forget to put your pics >Here< and all the other ones you may have, the more the better i say ;)
