car wont start?

Featured Replies

got in the fabia yesterday and when t tryed to start it nothing happened, the ignition comes on and u can hear te deisel pump kick in but the engine wont turn over? ive checked the fueses etc but most of my testing equipment is at work. my last fabia needed a new started, im assuming this ones the same?

Immobiliser? If you have a spare key, does that work?

If there is no clicking or anything from the starter, the trigger wire could be broken? Common fault as its too short so lots of info on here.

Does that not just stop the battery charging? Mind you, the dash lights won't draw anything like as much current as the starter! Battery charger or some jumpleads will answer that one, I guess!

tryed jump leats, car will start when jump started so must be the starter,al look further into it

Does sound like the exciter / trigger cable then. You can tell by seeing if the battery light comes on when you turn the ignition key, apparently. Plenty on here about it!

Sounds identical to my recent problem, check the cable to the starter motor, click on the following link for advice:

Starter solenoid cable broken. Common as chips.

Yep as above the solenoid cable ( you need to take the battery out to get a good look at it), probs snapped! Had it myself. More time consuming than expensive but still

finally got round to sorting the fabia today, i could feel that the exciter wire was off the solenoid on the starter, removed the battery, airbox and battery try, removed the old plug, crimped a new insulated female connector on, pushed it on, refitted everything and off it went! took about 20mins to do but was easy really
