Tuning fabia vrs tdi

Featured Replies

Hi I know that this has been mentioned a few times but I have only recently bought my fabia vrs, and could not find any recent posts about finding a cheap pd160 intake pipe, I have a friend who is mechanic for vw and even he can only get the two components for £70. Anybody know if it is posible to get cheaper and where cos it seems ridiculous for a piece of plastic to pay this much.

Not sure really.

I got a length of 4 inch ducting from Demon Tweeks which does the job just as well and cost £20 odd Fits quite nicely, but loses the OEM look if that's what your after

Hope this helps

Does it really increase power and mpg because of the greater airflow or is this just a rumor?

I don't know if it makes a lot of difference to power, as Diseasels run on excess air anyway. If you haven't done already, I'd fit an aftermarket panel filter at the same time, (either Green or K&N). I changed my filter whilst on a Rolling Road, and got a little difference in power (less than 1%). In saying this, both things will probably reduce the amount of black smoke from the exhaust, which is always a good thing.

SEAT intake pipes used to be £35, but they have realised they have become popular and hiked up the prise, so it's now silly money for just a piece of plastic tubing.

About the only measurable benefit they have is to reduce the smoke coming out the back.. Which is pretty important with a remap! ;)

remap was next thing on list after intake, so many places to choose from lol

I fitted green cotton panel filter then a month later fitted a pd160 (tight fit) so I didn't notice a difference, could have slightly more response and a little bit more intake noise.

Plenty of mods, I've just ordered a load of stuff on ebay, philips LED sidelights, silver indicator bulbs, rear mk6 polo wiper, bosch aerotwin front wiper blades and a stubby aerial.

Then went on to order new num plates (demon plates) two cup holders from skoda, car is having eibach springs put on in morning, gonna go to SEAT and get a front strut brace and will be on the lookout for a Jabba Rear ARB. Plenty to do, all reasonable prices, bigger mods can wait :D

Maybe a daft question but is the octavia pd170 intake bigger than the pd160 and does it fir straight on to fabia air box?

I got a remap on my vrs and I admit there is abit of black smoke so if I fitted a panel filter and the pd160 intake it will clear a margin of the smoke? Also can you get them up to the 200 mark? On standered internals and turbo on another remap on top of the remap I have already?

Not with the standard turbo. 200bhp mark is possible with a pd130 hybrid turbo, pd150 about 230-240 then you have to start changing internals to push harder. Can't really go wrong with the seat fmic to be honest, cools the turbo much better, i'm hoping to get 1 fitted by the summer because i cant afford to replace a cracked turbo just yet :) i already had the intake and panel filter fitted when my car didnt smoke much so didnt notice a huge difference but there was an improvement. Green panel can be washed again and again, it's a high flow dry filter so probably better than most others. I got mine 2nd hand for £17 on ebay :)
