Hi from Ely Fabia vRS SE

Hello all,

I have been lurking for some time, but, having been driving a 2000 Focus 2.0 zetec I limited my participation to viewing.

However, with my job meaning spending around £250/week on petrol and my car getting old and arthritic a change was required. Tomorrow I pick up a 2007 vRS Fabia Special Edition with just 33k on the clock and in A1 condition. I look forward to joining the Briskodian ranks and may even partake in future events.

I am really looking forward to my new car. The focus interior was pretty poor and of a low quality, and to make half decent progress meant thrashing the car with the resulting 15-20 MPG at most. I did love the handling though and could often keep up with more expensive machines.

I chose the Fabia for a number of reasons. Primarily the relaxed engine allowing for easy overtaking and economical cruising, the high quality (if uninspired!) interior - and I love the leather seats ijn the vRS SE. I hope the handling is sufficient to still have fun but I don't expect to be having quite so much fun in the corners, I look forward to going to Jabba for a strut brace and arb mods, but for now I will enjoy the fuel savings and other benefits of vRS ownership (such as not being in a line of 4 other focus's!)

I look forward to being part of the great community.

See you around!

Steve

Thanks for your welcome guys.

I picked up my Baby today, and all I can say is I'm very impressed. Supremely comfortable seats, fantastic interior buid quality with no rattles or noises of any kind, good quality HiFi and effortless cruising ability. On a Journey of 160 miles including motorway, urban and lots of hills I averaged 65.5 indicated mpg - not bad for a car with great overtaking potential. I am massively impressed and look forward to getting to know her.over the coming years. The car is a real revelation after the focus!

Welcome - as I've noted elsewhere the fuel computer in late model RHD Fabia 1 vRSs is wrongly calibrated by Skoda and can't be adjusted. It overreads by around 25% so taking 20% out of your figure results in 52.4mpg. That's much more the sort of figure to be expected for that sort of journey. I've seen over 75mpg on my computer for the 15 mile trip to my dealer - and shown it to them when complaining - but they can't do anything. My 2004vRS averaged just over 50mpg in its nearly six years with me and initial readings from the 2007 one suggest about the same.
