long beep when reverse (parking sensors)

Featured Replies

Hello,

Normally if you put in reverse you have a short beep signal that warns you that the sensors are activated. Now since a few days this beep is for several seconds.

If there something wrong with the sensors. I cleaned them yesterday, but they are not so dirty at all.

Thanks,

Michael

Pretty sure the long beep is to tell you there is a faulty sensor, I cannot 100% confirm that however as mine had always worked perfectly.

Hi Michael

I am fairly sure you have a faulty sensor. I had one a year or so ago. I did need to convince the dealer to repair it under warranty. He said he found water ingress in one of the sensors but tried to convince me it was ok. Sensor replaced no more problems. Says it all really :)

Thanks Raptor, ;-)

It's nice to read, so much people who are becomming pro's in Superb issues. It's really fascinating not.

But after posting this threat I went home and the sensors were doing crazy.

I started the car, put in reverse loooooooong beep, back in neutral loud loong beep. So I put it back in reverse, and now without any beep. And the sensors weren't working at all.

I drove 30 miles and after coming home I started the car again, and from that moment it seems to work like it a new one.

So that's what is strange, if I have a faulty sensor how can this be normal again. But I will see the next days, and I will keep posting the issue.

And It would be a shame for skoda that I already have a broken sensor after 15 000 miles. I drive the supercar like it is made from sugar.

My car is always more shiny than the sun itself so...

Next month (end feb.) I go to the garage for servicing, in case the problem keeps returning I will let it check.

So raptor, is this the same issue you had.

Thanks to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

Michael

Tried it again now.

When reversing a short beep, like usual. But it's now beeping like morse code. Beep beep beep beeeeep beep beep beep, even when te car is still and far away from any objects behind the car.

I restart again, same behaviour.

Can this be communication problem or just broken sensor??

thnks

Put ignition on, but don't start the car. Select reverse gear and go rear and put your ear against sensor. It should the some electrostatic noise. Go this for all the sensors. If they all do noise, then they are fine. You can do the same thing and put your hand under the car and find the wires going to sensors. Move them a little bit, at the same time hold your ear against the sensor. Do this also for all sensors. If this also doesn't solve the problem, then open the trunk. Remove plastic nut from the left fabric. Pull it a little away. You should see parking aid block. Check that all wires are firmly in their correct plugs. Also move there a little bit around and let someone change the car from neutral to reverse.

That should help a little bit.

thanks for the info, I will try this soon.

I will let you know soon! Anyway thanks a lot.

I've been told I need 2 new reversing sensors @ £102.00 each. CAN THIS BE TRUE? or is there somewhere else to buy sensors.

Just fit aftermarket sensors. Their cheaper and also you after, when some sensor fails, their much more cheaper than OEM.
