Vrs Changes

Featured Replies

I am interestd to know peoples opinions on what they would change/build on for the new vRS that I guess will be launched in a couple of years.

For example would you want to see 4 wheel drive, more horses more cabin refinement/less?

what kind of changes could skoda make by only adding up to grand or so to the list price (so we keep the diversity of owners)...

4wd would be nice, as long as it didn't add too much to the price, and didn't cause any loss of performance or handling. I guess it wouldn't be lowered so much as this would negate some of the benefits for off-roading ? :)

Built-In Sat Nav :D

I have heard the VAG are going to produce a 2.0T, 200+bhp in a Golf, don't know if this is true. Maybe they will use it in the new Octavia.

  • 200+ BHP
  • uprated brakes
  • 4 x 4
  • hatch and estate options
  • all leather interior
  • xenon headlights
  • Tiptronic transmission option
  • parking sensors
  • cruise control
  • full range of colour options (including Rally Red)
  • 17" alloys (including spare) & low-profile tyres to match
  • that b****y armrest as an optional extra (OK - make it a no-cost option, just to keep those odd people who like it happy)
  • elegance trim (except for above)

All for less than the current price.

Well, I can dream, can't I?

Failing that, it seems that our friends on the other side of the Channel have got it right - start with a basic spec and then add whatever options you want!

KLB - I'll second that.

Add diesel and petrol variants

Of course, but there's one tiny snag to this brilliant plan - it isn't quite up to standard on the "All for less than the current price" part. :(

BTW, pretty inclusive list there, KLB. Sums it up for me too. Yup, dream on...

I'd pay anything up to

Audi are about to launch a 2.0 litre F.S.I(Fuel Stratified Injection-gives leaner burn but more power - it's Audi's slant of direct injection petrol) Turbo - 200BHP,in the new A3 -- same floorpan as next Octavia which by all accounts is due summer next year - don't know when vRS is due.

Would be nice to have following :-

4x4

Xenon Headlights & Headlight wash

Sat-Nav

MP3 capability Audio

Plus Meaner exhaust & bodykit - same as witchfinder - which makes me a poser too I spose....... :)

:D

I'd expect Skoda to hold out on a new vRS for a while. Manufacturers always leave the best for last.

Wonder what the price would be, though, with that sweet 2.0T FSI in it (more power, less fuel consumption - I'd want one!). Won't be dead cheap anymore, I'm afraid.

There will be a 180hp version too, with a small turbo (the n/a engine is 150hp) - wouldn't surprise me if that's the one that will eventually be sourced to Skoda.

I guess the beauty of the current model is how 'easily' it can be modified to suit peoples needs and tastes.

If every vRS came with 225+ hp I certainly wouldn't be able to have one as the insurance is already an absolute killer.

As suggested, perhaps a set of performance/styling options (skoda approved) that people can choose from is the way forward (maybe a few crazy choices too).

For me, the main reason I chose the vRS over any other model of the Octavia was the body kit and interior finishes, and to a lesser extent the hp. Although it is no good having a car that looks great if it can't shift to match it.

I want an vRS-8.....

4.2 v8 biturbo

4wd set 30% f 70% r

alcantara recaros w 4 point harness's

std fit roll cage

2 door coupe

climate

shift lights

f.a. else

will pay 25k

and i expect skoda to win DTM with it first:rant:

what if i say pretty pls with sugar on it?

Hence the suggested security system. The vRS doesn't meet Thatcham's requirements for a car in it's insurance group, hence the relatively high costs. I wouldn't expect a 225 bhp four wheel drive version to be more than one insurance group higher.

A BMW badge???

But honestly:

-A boot that doesn't poor water in every time you open it after its rained

-Grab handles that are like those in a VW

-A steering wheel with a slightly smaller skoda badge

-4WD

-Dashboard display like an A4 (showing the radio station etc)

-more leg room in the back

-Black carpets

-in dash CD changer so I don't have to go into the boot

-better steering, make it feel like an alfa

I personally wouldn't pay any more than current list for all this.

If you have an indash CD changer it can affect insurance premuims as they are much more attractive to thieves compaired to the bolted to the boot version that is difficult to remove

not if it is built into the dash board!

But if it's built in, you wouldn't be able to take it out and replace it with a better one!

And if you could, then so could a thief...

That's the point. The Lexus IS200 had an 6CD in dash changer and it jammed as often as this countries roads....

on a 2004 Octavia RS i would like to have...

Standard:

4x4 Haldex system

More choice of colour for body and interior

better headlight-washers

front turbo-intake

black carpets! defo never thought of that these light grey are a pain.

would rather keep stereo and gadgets to the options list - at least we can all have what we want then...

A sunglass compartment... Every time I pull away from the traffic lights they end up on the floor :(

Q - try using one of those straps sportsmen use to keep their glasses on - or accelerate more gently....:D

LOL! They will be quite handy when I hit the brakes hard :D

what about a cup holder than can actually restrain a can when you accelerate/ brake remotely hard......

what with the grey carpets - its a conspiracy...

finally wedged the can the other day... so i could move off sharpish - phone cam out of the centre tray below the stereo - collected the can on the way past... b$gger.
