Vrs Trim

Featured Replies

I was thinking of replacing the silver/grey mesh on the interior trims with a light grey leather.

Replacing it with a yellow leather/red etc. leather dependent on car colour may look pretty good...

has anyone tried/done/thought of doing this?

yes i did think of doing this and posted to that effect in the old vortex days. got a quote of just under 500 squid iirc. i was also seriously thinking of anthracite wheels at the time as well and even got ian to photoshop a picture of manny's car ( red ) with various shades of alloy wheels.

i too was going for light grey leather as i thought it would have looked great but in the end, didn't bother and went for the APR remap and milltek exhaust instead.

There is a Volvo S40 T4 I come across most nights, plain looking thing apart from a private plate, and every night he pushes.

You can see it in his eyes - "haha, bet you didn't think I had 200bhp" - and then I pull away when we get on the motorway, thinking "but you didn't count on me having 22 more"

Childish, but satisfying! :D

Talk about threads going off track ! If anyone has actually had the seats redone then I would be interested in costs / quality as this is something I am considering

as above, not had it done but quoted 500 by some chaps nearby who do aftermarket retrims for merc, bee-em, jags and the quality looked great.

Thread starter reading with amusement!

Couldn't pull off any scary moves in my previous car, 1.3 fiesta, except I seem to remember over taking was pretty hairy (or was that pulling out the back in again)

:)

edit (related posts have been moved to lounge)

I did think about this for a while and came to the conclusion that while the seats might look a bit better in full leather trim, they'd be less comfortable, especially on a hot sticky day!

Half leather, half alcantara. Now that might be nice...

I'm still toying witht he idea of a nice set of all cloth recaros for mine. So much nicer in all weathers, especially when wearing shorts in the summer.

I'd have recaros any day... but I can't keep to any diets ;)

I've got a vague recollection of watching a TV programme about naturists once; and in particular how they combined naturism with another hobby. The classic car buff (no pun intended) explained that leather upholstery wasn't popular.....

Rob,

I've got full leather in my L&K and yes, it can be sticky in the summer. And cold in the winter (the heated seats come in useful then). There's also a tendancy to slide around more when driving in a more spirited fashion.

However... it still smells nice evey time I get into the car.

I was expecting half-leather, half-alcantara on mine, as that was what was stated in the brochure, but it came in the end with full leather.

Cheers,

Howard
