Random question - breather pipe diameter

Featured Replies

Evening

So I would like to replace the standard air box with a high flow filter straight after the bit where the sensor fits. I've read that CAI's are a bit of a waste as any cold air will be instantly warmed up by the turbo on its way through... Plus they are ridiculously expensive for what they are!!

My question is this... the breather pipe that attaches to the bottom left of the air box, what inner diameter is it? I want to know what size male metal pipe would go into it to attach a mini breather (looks like a mini air filter for crankcase etc.)

You get one with the expensive CAI's like carboni etc....

Cheers!

PS here is a pic of the carboni kit from a brilliant website, the little metal breather on the end of the pipe that i'm on about can clearly be seen next to the intake pipe jubilee clips.

Hehe that's my engine - from an earlier and muckier time!!

Just popped down to the garage and measured it - it's 25mm.

Cold air intakes (CIA's) are a marketing con.......lol

They do not supply cold air as the name suggests, they supply intake air at whatever the ambient air temperature is, which is exactly what the std VAG air box set up does ;)

However, they do create much more induction noise than the std set up and also amplify DV noise...... so if thats what floats your boat, go for it

Vrrrrrmm.. tschh :)
