My Superb, which I ordered at the end of September has been delayed from this week (bw 5) to build week 18, that's sometime in May... not happy, but that's another story...

Now Mrs Superbalicious has walked into the same dealer and bought herself a Fabia SE 1.2 TSi not even two hours ago... it's being built NEXT WEEK (!) and will be handed over as a March registration... talk about stealing my thunder :giggle::rofl:

We had gone looking at the Fiesta, but the salesman was pants and basically would only sell at list price because "apparently" the Fiesta is better...! :S

So, we're both pretty excited although I'm not quite as excited as the missus :'( but I'll have my day eventually

Have had fiestas in the past. My last one (2007 model) was poor all round hence me changing it for a fabia3, 1.9 diesel. Also got the chance to drive a new fiesta 1.2 a few weeks ago.

Whilst the new fiesta is miles ahead of the old model, I wouldn't say it is worth anything like list price money. Nor is the fabia a lesser car in any respect. Also experience tells me that Ford garages are poor at servicing and looking after you and your car. You won't regret buying the fabia. My experience of Skoda service has been very good so far.

A superb is a luxery car, the fiesta doesn't even come close to it. I know that Skoda is under alot of pressure to keep pumping them out at the moment due to the high demand for them all of a sudden. Especially the superb, that's the daddy of skoda, my advice is wait patiently and enjoy the car fully when you receive it.

If you're wondering why the fabia is easier to build it's purely down to size and the fact that the fabia (especially a SE) lacks a bunch of gadgets such as heated seats etc. and the engine is small and mass produced.

Oops, I wasn't suggesting the Fiesta should be compared to the Superb, but the salesman at the Ford garage was adamant it was better than the Fabia and he seemed taken aback when i politely pointed out that he would say that...!

I can also say from having driven one of the new fiesta's despite making it quite clear I was only intrested in the zetecS they still took me out in the 1.25 standard car for the test drive and the front wheel tuck in when cornering at speed and the body roll when changing direction slalom style was nearly vomit inducing and IMHO is border line down right dangerous. It is actually worse than my current VW fox and after having driven the fabia all be it the VRS its in a diffrent galaxy let alone world in terms of its body control ride and handeling.

Build date next week? Was it cancelled order or a ammended dealer order?

Skoda official documentation has the 1.2TSi manual at 16-18 weeks and the 1.2TSi DSG at 18-22 weeks.

Cheers

I suppose it could have been a cancelled order, as we've not added any extras at all. The dealer asked us to choose our main colour and a secondary colour and said he would see if there where any already built. He came back after a few minutes and quickly confirmed our details as he had identified a car which is due to be built next week and he wanted to get it assigned to us (I guess there could be various dealers jumping on cancelled orders). As it happens, the colour is the wife's first choice, aqua.
