Wouldn't it have been better if he's got you the XF and him the ipad. :D

Good point but unfortunately I don't think Angry Birds will work on the XF.

Nicely put and I didn't think about that aspect!

Ipad oh so limited, not enough memory, bland, boring and safe.... emoticon-0118-yawn.gif

But a lot of fun..lol

Browsing is pretty good, and apps are brilliant.

Got the laptop for anything else I need.

I REALLY want one.. but entirely don't need one and therefore haven't yet bought one.

Tempted though.

Exactly, I never would have bought one myself.

I've got one, brilliant bit of kit. Works well with Apple TV via Airplay too.

I rather stupidly opted for the 32GB wifi only model but I've cured the problem with a 3 'Mi-fi' portable wifi hotspot which allows me to connect the iPad, netbook, iPod, iPhone and any other electronic crap that happens to be near my car emoticon-0136-giggle.gif. The wireless keyboard is handy for longer bouts of typing.

Best download speed to date is just over 5.6Mbps but my average is about 2Mbps which is more than sufficient for emails and light web browsing emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Try not to spill tea on it if you possibly can. Mine has recovered now, but it was touch and go...

I recommend the VLC player app so you can load your own movie files onto it via pietunes.

Osmos is a great game, kept me amused for hours.

another good un is Salem Witch Trials, hidden object adventure game, expensive and too short but great.

The KORG apps are fantastic if you like dabbling with electronic beats, but again, expensive.

Friendly for Facebook is about the best Ipad FB app, but costs 59p

The EA sports games for the ipad are pretty good, especially the racing games.

If you're after a sim for it. Get on ebay and search for "3gb sim". It will be a three sim card with 3gb that lasts for 90 days (active from first use with no registration needed). They cost £6.99 total. So at that price buy 4 and you're covered for the year for less than £28!

Cheers :)

Oh yeh and of course they will be a full size sim and not a "micro" sim but you can literally just cut them down with a pair of scissors!

I'm finding 1GB a month plenty for some light browsing out and about on my dongle that I got for free! Cheap mobile broadband FTW!

My daughter got some of these last week as they normally go for £3 more - probably the best bargain for a long time.

what would you suggest as an alternative?

Something Android based no doubt! ;)

Agree with the sim cards being a bargain. Cheapeast way to do it and you don't have the allowance only lasting 30 days like with other pay as you go tarrifs!

Don't buy one then.

Simples!

I've wanted one for a while but waiting for the new one thats due very soon.

Cover orange is a pretty good game

Nearly bought one in the US, regret not buying one but if I had, would have regretted not getting a macbook/Air instead.

At least current regret cost me **** all

Same here, though it depends on which of the rumoured new features will end up in it.

If it has the higher resolution screen then I'm in.

If it's still 1024x768 I'll find something else to spend my money on as I'm not using a tablet with a lower resolution screen than my phone.
