Phantom Window Opening

Featured Replies

I have a Roomster Scout TSI DSG 2010 model.

Last couple of times I have used the remote to lock the car, but when I returned to the car some time later both front windows were partially open (I only have front electric windows) First time I put down to operating the switches accidentally when I closed the door, but a second time................? I know using the remote you can close the windows, but I didn't think it opened them.

I've tried to recreate the issue, but it's not been repeated..... yet!

Anyone else seen this, and if so what was the problem?

Hi!

You can actually open the windows using the remote as well - hold in the unlock button for a couple of seconds and depending on the setting either the driver's window, or all electric windows in the car will open. When you release the button the windows stop.

So it is possible that you have accidentally pressed the unlock button and opened the windows. If you have maxi-Dot you can disable this function in the settings.

:rofl::thumbup:

I did this on my Fabia vRS Estate a few weeks ago. However, I'd managed to wind down the windows completely without noticing - and it was raining all evening and all night. As you can imagine I had very wet interior come the morning. It was with my dealer for week allowing them to dry it out.

The problem seems to be down to the car not seeing individual presses on the keyfob. My repeated 'open door' pressing (as I couldn't get the boot open) must have been interpreted as one long press and therefore wound down the windows - possibly in sections. If you're standing around the boot area the windows are quite quiet when winding down, hence why I didn't hear them do it.

Since this event I've managed to do this again a couple of times (but only opening the windows a small amount) I've now become very aware of my window positioning before I walk away from the car.

I can't say I've seen the disable option in the Maxidot but I'll take another look.

The Maxidot on my Roomster does not have the "convenience" function that is needed to change - It might have to be a service adjustment1

Why the differences in Maxidot?
