Red gives an extra 20bhp, where as if you leave it black it will actually make your car go backwards instead. The real trick here is to install some red and green LEDs in the opening, that mod gives an additional +15bhp on top of the +20 for painting the opening red. After that increase you will when need to fit a homemade aluminium spoiler then size of a small council estate to the back of the car. ;)

do the blue cable ties give me any extra gains i cut the ends off them to keep weight down to help with the power to weight ratio is this right?? And i got the black hoses too so as soon as i fit them i'll let you know if the cable ties help with the backwards issue :'( p.s you boys kick arse and glad most have a sense of humour better than most the dub forums

The ends of the blue tie wraps you cut off *must be* kept in the drivers door pocket. This will help to balance the weight distribution of the mod correctly.

Trust me to screw it up i only went and threw them in the wheelie bin epic fail plus side the wheelie bin has never felt more balanced or cornered anywhere near as well as it does now

Hope the blue of the tie-wraps does not clash with the green of the wheelie-bin :wonder: :D:rofl:

I had the bin painted a custom redish blue metallic with a fine green pearlecent to compliment the council green one parked next to it so far i have noticed any loss of performance only improved handling i am now considering ceramic coating the bin as its a mod i haven't seen done on my street yet and yeah the red intake will be getting done too for the bhp gain on the redish blue metallic council bad boy , what the best wheel and tyre combo to run for max performance and handling?

I'll check out our Sulo bins wheels later....................

Right on a serious not i'm gonna run the cold air feed and go from there just see what its like and may try taking a couple of the large fins out but leave the small squares in it..... Just because i can't be arse'd with the hard work lol

What suspension is your bin running? The standard arrangement is known to provide far too much roll during heavy cornering. Try putting an ARB on it to make it more flat through the corners, and to give more feedback and control.

Don't forget a brake upgrade too!

Daft as it sounds, the ridges and the trumpet inside the lid are there to slow down / smooth the ariflow out so that the MAF sensor can get a proper reading, therefore make the engine run better.

Running it smoothed out *may* ultimately cause your engine to run slightly leaner (or richer), which would be compensated for anyway, so the airbox mod is, in effect, pointless.

using a ridged pipe to smoothed air box gives smooth and cold air flow thus making airbox mod a good idea and cheap initial upgrade.

Don't forget to fit winter tyres for when the pavements are slippery. 19 inch alloys are a must as well.

i'm rolling on 55/100/4's i think am considering an upgrade on the 4 inch wheels soon, i have fitted a full cardboard fibre lower front splitter already this really keeps it stable at speed on full push :) , down side it all got impractil when i went for the euro look and de handled and smoothed the lid now rendering it impractical

Got the alloy 50mm cold air hoses from my work gonna run these down to the front as flexible as hell which is awesome just need to run it somewhere

I'm following two threads at once here! I'm losing track as I don't know if we're on about bins or cars anymore. :D

lol last quote about hoses was for the car lol

Why not drill lots of tiny holes in the air box, that would negate the need for a filter at all. This would save loads of money come service time and make the car lighter........wouldn't it???

Better still just remove the filter housing all together and let the car suck in air without the filter housing or filter[1]. Even lighter and no filter to change. Jobs a goodun. :giggle:

[1] obviously only a really stupid person would do this!
