Damn, Couldnt Get The Front Dampers Off

Featured Replies

I was to change springs today, but I couldnt get the front damper loose so it was hopless..

The rear springs on the other hand took only 15 min on each side to change.

So now the car looks really funny,.. low in the back and high in the front

On the 9th of june when I get new brakes the repair guy will help me with the front springs as well.. so I dont have to drive for so long , looking like an idiot. :p

no, infact, turn-in into corners is much faster.. somehow.. mayby I'll keep it this way ..:D

It certainly has an unusual stance. :D

Mattias,

Looks like some cars over here that have done a booze cruise to france. It'l look great once the front end is sorted out.

I can't see anything wrong. Don't they all look like that, or only when accelarating hard? :D

Anyone else noticed that big k is into recommending the use of big tools recently? Sounds these days as if he is into fixing earth-moving equipment and JCBs rather than humble Skodas. :(

thought 4X4's were earth moving equipment denis (don't know if they do jcb's in "pretty boy blue" though)

Watch it, big k! I see Jon has been leading you astray. grumpy.gif

Nothing to do with me Denis! :(

As a dealer, I'm sure Big K knows the proper descriptor for the various colours :D

And I have to agree with him, a bigger hammer may be required, just make sure its soft faced to avoid to much damage.

Back in the '70s, when computers were BIG, we used to joke about the engineers looking after our ICL mainframe having a set of calibrated hammers.

The smallest one would be used to move things a few thousandths of an inch, and the really big one could move a disk drive a couple of inches across the floor :D

Are we talking about dampers or 4X4s? Any dealer who uses a soft-faced hammer on my 4X4 won't be seeing me again...........grumpy.gif

Denis, unfortunately they do sometimes need to use a hammer to remove tight components or even to refit some others. It can't really be avoided. Struts are one of these instances.

will you be changing your dampers Denis?

cant imagine you in lowrider mode with the bass turned up?

Hmm, I'd better watch out for a slammed 4x4 estate, on 20" rims, with neons (carefully colour coded to the "pretty boy" blue paint scheme) cruising round East Anglia.

:D

East Anglia - that explains everything..

Hey I didn't mention webbed feet or one eye in centre of the forehead :(

:D

Ooops, wrong thread, wrong board ;)

:D

Is no-one on the ball today? I was referring to the use of a soft-faced hammer on my 4X4, not my 4X4's dampers. (As in the Peugeot panel-beating advert). rolleyes.gif

PS "Muppet Overlord" says it all.

Ooooh get Mr Obtuse with his rolleyes.gif smiley. Unfortunately my telepathic skills are on the wane today due to an early start.
