20th is good for me.

i'll probably travel up on the friday and find a BnB somewhere close by?

No still 20 August. Unless people want to suggest a different date to ask Kirton for? THEY suggested this date.

OK guys I'm back. So do we have four people now confirmed?

CFB user_popup.png, bilun777 user_popup.png, TJK user_popup.png and myself?

Can you just confirm you want to come August the 20th and I will email Kirton and see if they are happy with only 4 people coming.

Thanks.

Hi 900000

Just need to check with SWMBO - she's slept a few times since it was last mentioned and has had time to forget/hatch some devious plot to occupy my time/decide she wants to come as well/any one of 100 other possible changes of mind!!!! :giggle:

I'll let you know this evening.

TJK

Sorry for not getting back to you earlier, but I'm still not certified able to drive after my accident, so I still can't say either "Yes" or "No". Safest if I am a "No" although I hope not!

Yes I am definitely coming.:thumbup: What are the details of exactly where and when?

See you there.

I'm now getting really annoyed with Kirton. All the emails are done as a "reply to all" with all the contacts on the site included yet only one ever replies and now even he has stopped replying. My last question was if the 20th of August will be ok if only 4 or 5 Yetis turn up. The reply came that we need to rent the whole site and it will be fine but at £500 a day I think not... We need at least 13 Yetis to make that cheaper than to just go on a normal play day. It was suggested we come on a normal play day instead with the next one on the 31st of July - THIS weekend!!! That is too short notice. The next two are in October and November with speciality things noted next to them - the August one is a big Kirton camping extravaganza so not really suited for Yetis. My two emails asking what these speciality days are and if we can come then have not been answered. I suspect the one person that does answer emails might be on holiday or something.......

So in short I think we can't do the 20th of August without getting 9 more Yetis to come join us to cover the £500 cost... What are people's thoughts? Will more be able to make Oct or Nov?

Perhaps Yorkie could come along if he is in the UK by then!!!

What a pain in the proverbial!!

If only 4 of us go it's going to cost us £125 each so unless we can find some more Yetis that will put the kibosh on it for me!

I thought they had given us the date of 20th august and were aware there were not going to be loads of us.

I also though that date was an open day for all so we would only have to pay the £40?

October is going to better than November. Could be a bit of a mud fest in November!

Having said that, I am away in Scotland for the first 2 weeks of October anyway.

Oh well... Best laid plans and all that.

Might be an idea to contact James at Allams and see if we can do another of his Surrey BOATs instead?

Hi there

I agree, with only 4 of us it's out of thew question. How about finding some BOATS in this part of the world? It can't be too difficult to find. Are they marked on OS maps?

Yes. Which scale maps have you got?

Trev

Yes they are, but It's a complicated issue. Some are marked as BOATs but have been reclassified to exclude 4 wheel vehicles and other restrictions can be applied.

I've been looking for some close to where I live but have had little success to date. I'm sure there are some but am cautious of driving them without up to date information.

Johann, what do you think about asking James?

I used to be the Rights of Way Officer for the Freelander Club, and am involved in a few Off-road Clubs, so might be able to help.

You are only allowed to drive;

Byways Open to All Traffic (BOAT's)

or

Other Routes with Public Access (ORPA's)

Prior to NERCA you used to be able to drive RUPP's, but the vehicular rights were extinguished and they bacame Restricted Byways.

Getting caught on these or any other non-vehicular route can result in prosecution or the issueing of a Sect 59 Notice. Two of the latter means your car is removed and scrapped!

Now where would you like to go?

Sorry about all of this Kirton malarkey.... Lets make a new thread about known BOATS please...... Then we can keep that tidy elsewhere. Here is the link.

And yes that was going to my suggestion!!!!! He knows them very well around his patch.

As to Kirton: the dates are below. No November (yet):

30th July Standard Playday

31st July Standard Playday

26th, 27th, 28th & 29th August Ultimate KORC (Summer Spectacular)

Graham, how about Wales for a change?

Have you got 4 spare rooms? :giggle:

Johann, I'll send James an email asking if he would like to organise something for 20th August to replace Kirton.

Perfect thanks. James said before he'd like to join at Kirton if he has his 4x4 sorted so he might just be free.

I'll await the Kirton lots' reply at some stage and report here what they say.

I might just hold off on cancelling the BnB for a few days though, just in case ?

Have you done Salisbury Plain already?

Have you done Salisbury Plain already?

I have marked maps for The Plain!

I have marked maps for The Plain!

nice

guess we'll see you at the pub then

Firstly it is a long way from here, and secondly every long weekend I have off between now and October is booked!!

Oh the "joys" of shift work!!

 boo hiss

on a serious note, are your Plain maps current and what would be the best way to get the info from your good self?

It's not difficult to get a guide to take you round the plains.

We did the same in the Range Rover group. It was tailored to the capacities of the vehicles on the day.

Lots of local enthusiasts that will help out for beer money.
