Yeti Adventure: Lincolnshire Kirton Off road centre

Featured Replies

Some time ago Briskoda member istruggle2gate11 mentioned in this thread that his hobby is running an off road centre:

http://www.kirtonoffroadcentre.co.uk/

Now with summer approaching would any people be up for this?

He says something can certainly be arranged for 2WD Yetis as well - hence the thread title being both and Adventure and an adventure. And the 4wd section can be tailored for soft roaders that don't want to go home with bent axles and bumpers hanging on the tarmac!

We have not spoken group costs but the general cost per full day is £40. See here.

And then a date?! This will be a difficult one but any suggestions welcome. I'll do a thread with a date poll if sufficient people are interested.

Johann,

would love to come, especially as Kirton has a reputation as a good centre, but it is a bit too far from here. :wonder: :'(

You'll be telling us we can get bacon butties there as well!

Well that is what Roger told me! So not sure what he has in mind for the 2WD folks but they won't be left as spectators only!

So it should - using words like that on a sweet little Forum like this - gave me a fit of the vapours.:giggle:

Sounds interesting, but it is well over 200 miles each way, not a day trip.....Depends if Swmbo could be persuaded to come or not, which I doubt.emoticon-0106-crying.gif

johann, it's quite a way from me too(nearly 200 miles)so i would have to make a weekend of it.

i would be very interested in doing it though.

would it be a yeti only day or open to all?

I'm still happy to work out a route for a byway exploration day in Surrey as there are a few lanes and it is pretty interesting. Although we haven't got a Yeti 4x4 at the moment and I have sold my own Landcruiser 4x4. I am waiting for a Yeti 4x4 DSG to arrive as our next demo!

Failing that I can work out and print out the routes for you to follow, there are a couple of tracks that in a Yeti you should only really attempt in one direction! The one in Shere for example, I wouldn't recommend going down the lane towards Shere as it is rather easy to get the tyre tread gets clogged and it is rather steep and you simply cannot stop where as on the way up if grip runs out you simply stop moving and with the ruts it will hold on the brakes.

I'd much rather take part though!

The place will still be open to the general public and we will be but a group there. So it will open to anyone of course.

YES please James!!! Will be great since this is much closer (for some of us) and it will be FREE! Apart from your time of course. You can also always join us at the Lincolnshire place in said Landcruiser!

Yes, subject to dates. Only 35 minutes from me and my brother in law lives in Kirton. I'll get him to bring his BMW 3 series - he can't even get it off his drive when it snows :giggle:

Still up for this (dates permitting) if you could arrange!

Well once our new Yeti 4x4 demo turns up I am sure I can arrange something.

I'll work out a suitable route and make sure nothing it too overgrown so that nothing damages paint but obviously I can't guarantee that your Yeti once get damaged if you stray or make a mistake.

I think I know which route and lanes we'll use so that you'll get a good idea of hill descents and ascents, axle articulation, different types of terrain and even a small river crossing. Well actually I hope it is small, last time I went through it the water level was about 7-8 inches but at one point 2 years ago it was almost 4 feet!!

Now then, bump.........

Any preferences for dates for the Lincolnshire meet?

Hi All

I'm up for a Lincolnshire Adventure, depending on dates. It's only about an hour and a half from me.

Trev

I'd be up for this, reasonably easy on dates.

OK I've added some dates to the poll. Would the people that said they are interested please delete their previous votes and vote again for a date. I chose those as I'm free at the moment for all of those dates. But we all know how summer goes, before you know it they are all filled!

15th May, 5th June or 24th July would suit me OK.

Edited by Jock

We can do any dates ,Except,7&15 may.(or do you want a vote for just one day?)

Ian... :smirk:
