Elegance DRL Standard Feb 2011?

Featured Replies

Has anyone recently taken delivery of an elegance model which had the DRL in the foglight already activated without having to request it?

Is it true the law required all new cars to have DRL's from the 7th Feb 2011?.

SUK told me there would be a software update available from dealers once it became law and (a dealer) could then activate them (I took delivery of my car just before the 7th Feb and they aren't activated)but my dealer said 'only the VRS has DRL's' (even thu you can see the DRL bulbs in the fog light housing on my car)so asking if they could activate the DRLs on delivery fell on deaf ears!

Anyone had any experience with dealers on this in the last week or so?

Not all cars no, only new models that go on sale after this date so the current Octavia/Superb etc. are not required to have them even after this date.

All facelift Octavia's with front fog lights have the DRL's fitted.

As you've mentioned they first need activating by your dealer (or by a friendly memeber with VCDS).

This software update is a bit misleading as any Octavia with the DRL fitted can have them activated, as many on here have already.

Once activated you can them turn them on and off via maxidot (if fitted) or by using the indicator stalk (exact instructions are detailed in the manual).

The vRS has LED DRL's and these double up as sidelights so are already activated from the factory.

I have no doubt Skoda will start shipping the Octavia with them activated within the next few months.

The compulsary DRL law from February applies to new models only.

It'll make those who think we have left our foglights on go for a lie down in a darkened room...
