Unlocking Question.

Featured Replies

Have had a flat battery this morning, so i have replaced the battery and checked the volts when at 2000rpm and got 14.8v so im sure the alternator is working correctly.

My question now is when unlocking the fabia vrs 53 plate it makes two horn sounds like an alarm, not horn but before replacing the battery when unlocking it never did this before. Any ideas

Any ideas people....

Mine beeps twice on unlock and once when you lock it! It's something that's enabled via vagcom! It's just audible notification :-)

Has the Vagcom been reset to do this then. Must have reset itself when the battery was replaced. Sorry for my lack of knowledge i have only had the car less than a week.. Im still wondering why my battery went flat all off a sudden in the first place. Thanks.

Sorry I ment, vagcom is a bit of software that you use to change things in the car, dignose issues etc and plus in via the serial port. Having the beeps and things are settings that you can change or apply.

I'm not sure why it would be not working before but is now?!?

I'm sure someone else might have a better idea :-)

Anyone else got any more ideas why this has just started after a battery replacement. Thanks

Most likely the backup battery in the alarm is goosed. It's there to prevent a car thief from killing the alarm by cutting the main battery cables. If the internal battery is goosed, for reasons unknown, swapping the main battery causes the "Beep on lock/unlock" function to activate (default from factory is off for that function.) Your options are leave it as it is. Have someone with VAGCOM disable the beep, or have a new alarm unit fitted if the alarm internal battery is faulty.

Rough prices for the three options are. FREE, Beer Money, You Don't want to know.
