cupra console bushes

Featured Replies

has any one else had problems fitting them? my car's still in the garage and they couldn't get the wishbone back together. So they tried to take it out, had problems and when i last saw it they were cutting them out!!!! not happy

The only remotely difficult bit, is making sure the bush is aligned correctly relative to the console housing. Sounds like they got it wrong.

Just this minute came back from the garage for a quote to fit the cupra bushes.

They said it's a nightmare of a job!!!! Sub frame has to come out to press them in tidy???

Gonna charge me 80 quid just for fitting them if I want it done!!!

Honestly, the new updated bush (from Octy Mk2) works fine. However £80 for the fitting of Cupra bushes is a very fair price.

Yea your right. 80 quid not bad after researching this forum on prices to fit them.

Car is going in Wednesday to have them fitted.

Hope the thuding when braking, squeaking when it rains & noisy when going round roundabouts will now GO AWAY!!!

Car is transformed once the chocolate bushes are replaced  Spray new bushes with white PTFE grease to keep the salt off them. Last forever.

You're all going to hate me now, but my local garage only charged me £40 to fit my cupra console bushes

My local charged me about £50 a couple of months ago. That said I know he hasn't aligned them properly, anyone know what the implications are of them not being aligned correctly?

Cheers.

Well worth popping up this way to save yourself £40.

The garage I use is Park Road Garage in Bargoed - 01443 831938

Incorrect neutral suspension wishbone angle. The result being, when the weight of the car is on the ground, the bush insert is twisted, resulted in early failure of the new bush.

Oh my god, £40 still seems like a lot of money to fit them. Jesus, I'll do them myself for £30 in about an hour or two!

They are easy enough to do, just require a fair bit of elbow grease to get them in.

Moggy, just out of interest which way should they be aligned? With a flat edge of the internal hex on the top and bottom? This is how i did them, hope it's right. Lined up with the wishbone when flat.

More or less yes, the original and updated bushes have alignment marks that match a pip on the console housing. Not sure about marking on the Cupra bushes (never used them.)

I've got mine booked in for next monday to have the console bushes changed. I was looking at using the Cupra bushes but after having a look at the new Skoda ones i've decided to stick with them - they look much better than the flimsy old ones. The garage should only charge me labour, and they've stated they want to leave 1hr per side. So i'm expecting to pay circa £60, which i'm happy with cause after changing the front springs a couple of months back i've had about as much of the front end of this car as i can take for the moment ;)

Front wishbone console bush yes. 1 Hour per side, so £199 is way too much. £150 tops.

Considering a pair of Cupra bushes just cost me 24.00 delivered, they're labour costs are ridiculous!!! :wonder:

Would you say that the Disk/Spacer & bolt is the easiest method or is there another way that works just as well.

Cheers.

Taking the console off the subframe ensures best alignment for the bush. The bushes can then be driven in with a bench press. However you need a suspension alignment afterwards.

I didn't use ratchet straps to put in the last set and they were near impossible to get squeezed in and to fit the wishbone back in again. I ended up using my foot, laying on the ground, pressing as hard as i could for an hour or so. They are a right pain to do on the car but then, taking the console off isn't the most fun either. Swing's and roundabouts.

Could anyone tell me the part number for the Cupra bushes, I take it it's the Ibiza ones I need?

Have a look on awesome gti. Put soda fabia into car selector at top. Then click on suspension. They're in there.

Sorry can't put link up, I'm doing this off phone.
